Stencil Blending On Dark Cardstock

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

For today's card, I will be doing some ink blending using a stencil onto dark cardstock. In the past, I've used stamps for this technique, but today I wanted to use this new stencil, which I must admit is my new favorite stencil!! For this card, I will be using the brand new kit from Gina K. Desings. I've never been so pleased with a kit and all of it's contents! Usually when Gina's kits sell out, (and this one did in a matter of a few days!) they do not get restocked. HOWEVER, for this kit Gina said they WILL be restocking and there should be more available in a few weeks. If you missed out purchasing this kit and are wanting one, go to her website (I have a banner on the lower right side of my blog) and search Nature's Touch Card Kit then click on the "read more" button at the bottom of the kit. There you can click on the "notify me" button and you will be the first to know when the kit is restocked and available for purchase so you don't miss out. I will also be using the brand new Master Layouts Dies also from GK. These dies cut the perfect mat to layer panels and greetings. No more cutting uneven sides, these dies cut even mats every time! Unfortunately, these too are sold out. Just go to the website, find the product and click on "notify me" to be the first to be notified when they are restocked. I am so excited to bring you more cards made with this kit in the coming days! Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the smaller rectangle die from the Master Layouts Die Set and cut out of Tranquil Teal Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Next, I take the Ornamental Fans Stencil and adhere it to my panel using Purple Tape. I then run them through my Big Shot. The reason I like to run my stencil and cardstock together through my die cut machine is that it raises the stencil image a bit, giving the design a more prominent look. Using my Blender Brushes, I blend White Pigment Ink over the entire panel. I then gently remove the ink sitting on the stencil with a dry cloth. Using my smaller brush, I blend Wild Lilac Ink to the centers of each fan image. Next, I blend Blue Lagoon Ink over each fan blending the colors. I then go back again with the Wild Lilac Ink to intensify a bit. After all of my blending is complete, I remove the stencil... the results are so beautiful!! *I always flip my panel over to remove the tape, lifting up the corner and peeling back on itself. I do not peel off the tape from the front as it can tear the cardstock.

I again take my Master Layouts Die Set, this time using the bigger rectangle die and cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then adhere my blended panel to the black mat panel using Terrific Tape. I then mount onto a Wild Lilac Cardstock card base.

Taking the smaller oblong rectangle die from the Master Layouts Die Set, I cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, I also take the bigger oblong rectangle die and cut out of Wild Lilac Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. To give the black rectangle die cut some texture and to tie in with the background, I run it with the Ornamental Fans Stencil through my Big Shot. I then use Liquid Glue and adhere the two pieces together. Next, I trim the two sides off so that the matted layer is only showing on the top and bottom. Using Terrific Tape, I adhere to the card front.

Next, I take the oval die from the Master Layouts Die Set and cut out of Wild Lilac Cardstock, and also take the oval frame die from the same die set and cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then take the oval die and stamp a greeting from the Hearty Greetings Stamp Set (this is the current incentive stamp set that is free with a $75 purchase) using Amalgam Obsidian InkUsing Liquid Glue, I adhere the stamped oval onto the oval frame.

Onto the back of my greeting I add Foam Tape to the top and bottom then mount over the rectangle die cut and this completes my card.

Laying down white pigment ink first, allows any color of ink to show up on dark cardstock. I really love this technique and the results it gives! This is only one idea of what can be done with the contents of this card kit. I can't wait to play with the stamps next!!
***Tomorrow and Thursday I will be doing something a little different. I will be joining Jenn Shurkus in a fundraiser she's doing this week for the small businesses of Cape Cod affected by Covid-19. I will be explaining more in tomorrow's post. There are a total of six cards that I have created for this fundraiser. I will blog three cards tomorrow and the other three cards will be on Thursday's blog, so watch for those!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
