Natural Silhouettes

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today, I have a card using the Natural Silhouettes Stamp Set. This set is from the very popular card kit from Gina K. Designs. The kit is currently sold out but will be back in stock very soon! If you would like to purchase this card kit, click HERE then click on the "notify me" button and you will be emailed as soon as the kit is available again. I will be using inks and cardstock, both from Gina K. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the smaller rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Taking my Sunshine Stencil, I take the circle (with this stencil you get the stencil as well as the circle cut out) and add Dot Runner Adhesive to the back then adhere it to the top right corner of my panel.

Using my Blender Brushes, I start by blending Wild Dandelion Ink around the circle and fade out a bit. Next, I blend Sweet Mango Ink around the previous color, blending back into it and fading out. I then blend Coral Reef Ink around the previous color, blending back into it. I then go back with each color and blend with the ink remaining on the brushes and blend into each color to soften the blend.

I now remove the circle mask and adhere the Sunshine Stencil over my blended panel using Purple Tape. I blend Wild Dandelion Ink over the circle and the rays. This creates the sun rays over each color. I now remove the stencil and add a little Sweet Mango Ink over the sun.

Next, I take the same smaller rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set (which is the same die I used to cut my blended panel) and cut out of Dark Sage Cardstock. ***the pictures show a different color cardstock but I later changed my mind and switched to dark sage. Taking the biggest oval from the Double Stitched Ovals Die Set I center over my panel and adhere using Purple Tape then run through them through my Big Shot.

I now place my blended panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. Choosing an image from the Natural Silhouettes Stamp Set, I place it over my panel and stamp using Black Onyx Ink. I then place my cardstock frame over the blended panel to help figure out the rest of my stamp placement. I then choose another image from the same stamp set and place it where I want to stamp. I then pick up the stamp with the door of my MISTI, remove the frame then stamp the image. I repeat the process with the rest of the images. ***if you look closely, it looks as though the sun rays are shining through the trees. If I would have stamped each image again it would have covered them, but I was very pleased with the look so I decided to leave it this way.

Using the bigger rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set, I cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I now adhere my blended panel onto the black panel using Terrific Tape.

For a little texture and interest, I place my cardstock frame into my Lumber 3D Embossing Folder and run through my Big Shot. I thought this embossing folder would tie in great with the trees. ***Be sure to check the sandwich order for your die cut machine when using a 3D folder.

I place the blended panel back into my MISTI and place the cardstock frame over it to help place my greeting. I choose a greeting from the Natural Silhouettes Stamp Set and stamp using Black Onyx Ink.

Using Terrific Tape, I adhere the cardstock frame onto my blended panel, then onto the black panel. Finally, I mount onto a Kraft Cardstock card base, and this completes my card.

I will give this card to my son for his birthday on Friday. I really love this particular stamp set as it is great for making masculine cards which can sometimes be a struggle. Silhouette stamps are great for using on inked backgrounds and would also work well with alcohol ink lifting!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy
