Lake Time Fun!

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today's card is a fun summer time themed card. I purchased this set with my grandchildren in mind. We live on a lake now and this set reminds me of all the summer fun they will have at grandma and grandpa's house. The stamp set I will be using today is from Hero Arts, there are also dies sold for this set which I do not have. I will be doing some ink blending using regular Distress Inks and using an embossing folder from Sunny Studios. I love using silhouette stamps on an ink blended background, and this set is perfect for just that. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take a panel of Neenah White Cardstock and place a strip of Purple Tape across the center of the panel. I then take a small circle die from the Infinity Circles Die Set and cut out of Masking Magic Paper, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I peel off the release paper and use the negative piece to place partially over the Purple Tape, this will be the start of my sunset.

Using my Blender Brushes, I blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink over the circle area of my mask. I then remove the mask and blend Mustard Seed Distress Ink around the half circle and into it then fade out a bit. *By "fading out" into the white area a little, where the next color will be added, helps to join the two colors together which creates a seamless blend.

The next color I use is Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, I blend around the yellow, and into it a bit being careful not to cover up the yellow. I then fade out a little into the white area. My final color is Barn Door Distress Ink, I blend around the orange and into it a bit.

To smooth out my blending, I go back with each color blending into each other until I have a soft blend. I then remove the Purple Tape. I then lay the tape onto my Glass Mat and wipe with a damp cloth, removing the ink.

To create the water, I flip the panel upside down and lay the Purple Tape back over the panel right at the edge of my sunset blend. I then blend Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink at the edge and fade out.

Next, I blend Salty Ocean Distress Ink, blending back into the previous color. (Doesn't the panel look like a bomb pop popsicle?! LOL) Once I am satisfied with the blend, I remove the tape.

Taking the two grass cluster stamps from the Lake Time Fun Stamp Set and an acrylic block, I start to stamp the images, one at a time going across the top edge of the blue using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink

I now set the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and lay the circle die I will be using later to figure out my stamp placement. I then pick up the stamp with the door of my MISTI and stamp my image using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

Next, I line up the next image and stamp using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I repeat the process for my last image.

Making sure all of the ink is dry, I take my circle die from the Infinity Circle Dies Set and center over my images. I make sure the left side of the die is slightly over the grass clump so it doesn't look like the dock is out in the middle of the lake and run through my Big Shot.

Next, I cut a 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of white cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I place the panel into my MISTI and set my die cut circle over the panel to figure out my stamp placement. I remove the circle die and stamp a sentiment from the same Lake Time Fun Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

Taking my Sunburst Embossing Folder, I place the stamped panel into it and run through my Big Shot. *Remember to check your machine's sandwich order for embossing folders. I then adhere the embossed panel onto a Blue Raspberry Cardstock card base using Double Sided Tape.

I cut a piece of Double Side Adhesive Foam using a smaller circle die, running them through my Big Shot. I remove the release paper and adhere to the back of my stamped circle then mount onto the card front and this completes my card.

This card was really fun for me to make! I just love our lake life and the times we spend fishing. This scene makes me think of all the fun times ahead with our grandchildren and can't wait to make memories with them!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
