I hope everyone had a good weekend! Today I will be making a card using the baby wipe technique. I got my inspiration for this technique watching videos from Jennifer McGuire. This is a fun technique that uses a baby wipe to pick up and remove ink through a stencil. For my ink blending, I will be using regular Distress Inks. I will also be using a stencil from Hero Arts along with a die greeting from Pinkfresh Studio and sentiment from Altenew. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Taking my Blender Brushes, I blend Tattered Rose Distress Ink around the center of my panel fading in towards the center.

Next, I blend Worn Lipstick Distress Ink around the sides, blending into the previous color and fading out towards the edges. *Fading out from one color to the next allows colors to join and evenly blend together. For some reason, I could not get an even blend with this second color, I have never had this problem before. The only thing I could think of is this brush was used with an oxide color so I'm guessing that mixing the regular ink with the oxide that was left on the brush caused this problem. Interesting. I will be washing my brush!

For my third and final color, I blend Picked Raspberry Distress Ink around the edges and corners, fading into the previous color. I go back through each color fading into each other with the remaining ink on my brushes.

Taking my Spiral Stencil, I attach it over my blended panel using Purple Tape. I then place them on the bottom cutting plate of my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Next, I place a baby wipe folded in half over the top of the stencil then place a folded piece of cardstock on top, place the top cutting plate over everything and run through. *The reason I add the folded piece of cardstock is to absorb the wetness that will get pressed out of the baby wipe. It also serves as a shim to give added pressure over the stencil. ***Make sure your stencil does not have any pixie spray or other adhesive on it... ask me how I know this! I had to start over and blend another panel as the tackiness on my stencil pulled up the ink from the damp cardstock. I used rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to remove the pixie spray from my stencil then rinsed under clean water and started over.

Before removing the Purple Tape, I use my Craft Tool and dry my panel. I then very carefully peel the tape from my panel, starting on the back of the cardstock.

Next, I cut down a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Foam using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer to measure 3 3/4" x 5". I remove the release paper and adhere to the back of my blended panel then onto a white card base.

Taking a die from my Stitched Circles Die Set I cut out of Vellum. I also cut my greeting out of white cardstock three times using a die from the Phrase Builder - Sending Die Set, running them all through my Big Shot.

Using Liquid Glue, I stack and glue the die cuts then glue them over the vellum circle die cut. Most times when I use vellum to back a greeting, I like a little lift. I die cut two more of the greetings, glue them together then glue them to the "back" of the vellum, lining up the word. I then add Liquid Glue to the back and adhere over my card front.

For a sentiment, I place a scrap strip of cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and stamp a sentiment from the Heartfelt Sentiments Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I cut the strip down to be 4". I add Foam Squares to the back and mount it just below the greeting. Using my Jewel Picker and Liquid Glue I add some Water Droplets and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and learned how something so simple as a baby wipe can give a card such a unique look. This technique would really be beautiful on a rainbow blended background also!!

    1. Thank you! The baby wipe removes some of the ink and also creates a bit of texture to the design. 🙂

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
