Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and this week is off to a good start! Today I have a card using the Lovely Lotus stamp set from the new Gina K. Designs August kit. If you haven't had a chance to check out this kit, I encourage you to do so. Gina packs so much into her kits and they are very reasonably priced!  I am having so much fun sharing my creations with you from this kit, I hope you are enjoying them. For today's card I will be creating a background using the stencil that is included in the kit by ink blending onto bright colored cardstock. To do this I will first blend a layer of white pigment ink to create a light base for my colors to show up on colored cardstock. I LOVE the way this panel turned out!!  I wanted a layered look for my card but couldn't bring myself to cut the panel down. I will show you how I achieved the layered look without having to cut my panel down. All of the inks, cardstock and stamps used for today's card are from Gina K. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Key Lime Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take my Fizzy Stencil and attach it over my panel using Purple Tape

Using my Blender Brush I blend White Pigment Ink over my entire panel. Before adding any color, keeping the stencil attached to the panel I take a dry cloth and gently buff off the surface of my stencil to remove the white ink clinging to it. *Laying down a layer of white pigment ink first will allow colored ink to show up on any color of cardstock. ***Be sure to use a separate brush or blending tool for the pigment ink and clean off the stencil in between.

Once I have my entire panel covered in white ink and the stencil cleaned off, I blend Blue Lagoon Ink over random areas of the stencil, fading off a bit. I again, clean off the stencil surface before changing colors.

Next, I blend Wild Lilac Ink onto the rest of my panel, fading into the previous color just a bit. I now remove the stencil. WOW!!! The colors just pop off of the panel!

I now place a piece of Turquoise Sea Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner to stamp my image. I decided I want a little variation and highlight to my image so I blend a small amount of White Pigment Ink then blend some Blue Lagoon Ink around it randomly. *I want to create my highlights before stamping my image as I do not want to dull the black lines of my image with the white pigment ink.

Taking an image from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set, I stamp over the highlighted area using Amalgam Obsidian Ink. Next, I take the detail image for this stamp, line it up over my stamped image and stamp it using Amalgam Obsidian Ink.

Next, I take the coordinating die from the Lovely Lotus Die Set and line it up and use Purple Tape to hold it into place while running it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

For my sentiment, I cut a 1 /2" x 5 1/2" strip of Vellum using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then place it into my MISTI and prep it using my Anti Static Powder Bag. I choose a sentiment from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set and stamp it onto the Vellum using the White Pigment Ink. I add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *The vellum sentiment is a well known idea from Gina K.!!

Before adhering my sentiment, I trim off 1/8" from one side and one end of my panel making it 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". I then add some Dot Adhesive Runner to the lower part on the back of my panel this will hold the vellum into place. I line up the vellum towards the bottom of my panel then fold the ends around the back adhering them to the adhesive.

To create my card base, I place a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Turquoise Sea Cardstock into my Scor Buddy scoring at 5 1/2" creating a top folding card base.

Using Terrific Tape I adhere my panel onto the card base, making sure to add tape over the vellum on the back.

To create a faux layered look to my panel I take the biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die set along with the biggest die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and hold them together using Purple Tape on the back side. I then cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. This creates a thin frame.

Using Liquid Glue, I add to the back of the frame then center over the front of my card pressing down for a few seconds until the glue sets. I now have a layered look without having to cut down my panel! I add Foam Tape to the back of my flower then mount above my sentiment and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. The Lovely Lotus stamp set is a great addition to the kit with great encouraging sentiments. This flower would look beautiful watercolored, which I will be getting to soon! I am really loving the stencils Gina has been coming out with lately. This Fizzy stencil is great for using light colored inks to create a soft subtle background or bold bright colors like I used today. it would also work great for gels and pastes!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
