Blended Ornate Floral

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today, I am using the Ornate Frame Die from Pinkfresh Studio that I will do the inlay technique with. I had every intention of making this into a shaker card but after inlaying all of my pieces I really liked the look and didn't want to add any shaker elements to it. I did however, keep the stacked layers to give the card lots of dimension. I thought the deep inset pieces looked really nice. I will be using Distress Oxide Inks to do my ink blending. Let's get started!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat

To start, I cut a 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Next, I take the Ornate Floral Die and cut out the panel, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I use my Craft Pick to poke out all of the pieces, keep them in order and set them aside.

I now use the die to cut out of a piece of copy paper for a template. I want to create a rough, splotchy blend for my background making sure the areas that will show through the die are colored. I add a small amount of Dot Adhesive Runner to the back of the template to hold it in place then position it over a white card base. Next, I lightly blend over the open areas (that are not flowers or leaves) with Weathered Wood Distress Oxide Ink using my Blender Brush. I do this so that I know where I need to blend the ink, I don't want to waste ink blending on areas that will be inlaid. I remove the template and discard.

I now take my Blender Brush and blend Weathered Wood Distress Oxide Ink heavier in the areas that will become my background once all of my pieces are inlaid. I make sure my blend is splotchy and uneven to give it more of a distressed look. I then take the white cardstock frame and adhere it over my card base using Liquid Glue, pressing down to make sure all of the frame is adhered.

I go through my pieces that I poked out of the frame and keep only the petals and leaves that I want to inlay. I arrange them in the order they will go into the frame as it makes it easier to find the correct pieces.

I take one of the petals and use my Blender Brush to blend Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink onto it. I start heavier at the base and edge then fade out. I go through and blend two of the flowers with this color.

For the other two flowers I blend Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink using the same process.

For each of the leaf pieces, I blend using Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink.

Now it's time for the fun, relaxing part... inlaying!! Using Liquid Glue, I add one petal at a time. I work one flower at a time then move onto the leaves. For the tiny pieces I use my Jewel picker to pick them up and place them.

Taking the same Ornate Floral Die, I cut out of Neenah White Cardstock four more times, running them through my Big Shot. I then stack and glue the frames together using Liquid Glue. Next, I adhere the stacked frames onto my card front using Liquid Glue, making sure everything is lined up. I hold down the frames for a few seconds until the glue sets. *You could add any amount of frames you'd like, but because I already had the four frames cut out I decided to use them all and really loved the results!

I now place a piece of white cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and choose a sentiment from the Thanks A Million Stamp Set and stamp it using Versafine Clair Ink. I then choose one of the greetings from the same set and stamp it just above the sentiment.

Taking a die from the Stitched Circles Die Set I cut out my greeting, running them through my Big Shot. I then cut a slightly smaller circle out of Double Sided Adhesive Foam and adhere it to the back of my greeting then onto my card front leaving it hang off the edge a bit.

Using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer I cut off the overhang. I use my Jewel Picker to add some pearls from my stash with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and learned a new way to use a frame background die. This die would also look great over a simple ink blended background, alcohol inked background or even patterned paper! Today's card could easily have been turned into a shaker card by simply adding a piece of acetate under the top frame, add sequins or beads then glue the top frame down trapping the bits inside. For finer dies like this one, I love to stack multiple dies to create a shaker card rather than use foam, it makes it so much easier! I will not be making a card tomorrow, but will be back on Monday. Hope you come back for another fun card project, have a wonderful weekend!!

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy
