Alcohol Lift - Elegant Script

Hello, welcome to my blog!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Plans changed and I didn't go out of town after all. Today, I will be using the Alcohol Lift Ink technique. Alcohol lift ink is a clear ink that lifts the ink from panels created with alcohol ink. This technique can be done by using stamps or even stencils! Today I will be using a background stamp for Gina K. Designs. This is a large 6 x 6 red rubber cling stamp that stamps beautifully. I will be removing the ink from my alcohol inked panel and with that removed ink, I will create another panel that will give me two panels with one inking. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take a piece of Yupo Paper and add Blending Solution over it. I then add Moss Alcohol Ink, Monsoon Alcohol Ink and the Gilded Alloy. Next, I take my Air Blower to move the color around and blend it a bit. *After adding the alloy, I like to add a drop of Blending Solution over the drop to break it up and help the alloy to move better.

To intensify the panel, I add more drops of the Moss and Monsoon alcohol ink then add a little more Blending Solution and move the colors around with my Air Blower. I set the panel aside to completely dry for about 15 minutes.

After the panel is completely dry, I add a little Dot Runner Adhesive to the back and place into the center of my MISTI Stamp Positioner and press down to adhere. I then take my Elegant Script Background Stamp and center it over the panel. I pick the stamp up with the MISTI door then ink it up well with my Alcohol Lift Ink and stamp onto my inked panel. With the stamp still on the MISTI door and the picked up ink still wet, I gently drop a white cardstock panel onto the background stamp and apply even pressure over the panel to transfer the ink. The results of the transferred ink is beautiful!! I love the script font with the green and blue tones.

Going back to my lifted ink panel, I use a clean dry cloth to dab up the extra ink then gently buff over the stamped area to brighten up the stamped image.

I take my lifted panel and trim it down to 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take the transferred ink panel and trim off the sides to be 1" wide each.
*I was originally going to save the transferred ink panel for a future card, but thought I would incorporate it into today's card. I will save all trimmed pieces for another project.

Next, I take a white card base and adhere my two edge pieces to the base using Double Sided Tape. I then mount the center piece onto the base and over the two side panels. To define and add separation to the panels, I add a thin Mirrored Gold Cardstock strip to each side using Liquid Glue.

I now take my Fancy Thanks Die and cut out of black cardstock three times, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Using Liquid Glue, I stack the die cuts and glue together. I then adhere my greeting onto the front of my card using Liquid Glue.

For a quick sentiment, I place a thin strip of white cardstock into my MISTI and stamp a sentiment from Sentiment Strips 2 using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I trim down the ends and add two scrap strips of cardstock to the back of the sentiment using Liquid Glue. ***This is an awesome tip from Jennifer McGuire to use up those scraps in place of foam tape! I then mount my sentiment strip just under the greeting and using my Jewel Picker, I add some Black Jewels using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hadn't played with my lift ink for a long time so I thought I would break it out and use it along with some of my new alcohol inks and I'm sure glad I did!! I love how these colors look together and how everything flows together so nicely. I'm glad I decided to use the two panels together and still have leftover pieces to make another card!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
