Stamped Stencil Happy Birthday

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today's technique is stamping over a stencil. Using a stencil, I will create an ink blended background then while the stencil is still attached, I will use a background stamp to stamp over my ink blending, through the stencil. A quick note, after adhering my panel to the stencil and before I start my ink blending, I will run my panel with the stencil through my Big Shot. By doing this, it raises the stenciled image just a bit making the pattern stand out a little more. Most times when I use a stencil, I like to do this. All of the products I will be using today, including the ink and cardstock are from Gina K. Designs. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then attach my panel using Purple Tape to my Water Droplets Stencil. Next, I run the panel attached to the stencil through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine to raise the image just a bit. (I lifted the stencil a little and took a picture to show what running through my die cut machine does) Keeping the stencil attached to my panel, I use my Blender Brushes and blend Sea Glass Ink over the entire panel. Next, I blend Soft Stone Ink to random areas to create some shadows.

Keeping the stencil still attached to my panel, I add a little Dot Runner Adhesive to the back and place them into the center my MISTI Stamp Positioner. *adding a little adhesive to the back will hold the panel into place while stamping. I now ink up my Elegant Script Background Stamp with Tranquil Teal Ink and stamp onto my panel, pressing down firmly so that the ink gets into each opening of the stencil. I can now remove the stencil from my panel.

Taking the smallest die from the Single Stitched Circles Die Set, I cut out of White Cardstock running them through my Big Shot. I like to take the negative piece that I just cut my circle from and place it into my MISTI then place the circle die cut back into place to help hold it while I stamp. I line up a stamp from the Fancy Greetings Stamp Set then stamp my greeting using Amalgam Obsidian Ink.

To dull out the bright white areas of my stenciled panel, I lightly blend Soft Stone Ink over the areas just to tone it down a bit. I then decided that I wanted to deepen the color to my stenciled design. I carefully lined the stencil back over my panel and again adhered using Purple Tape and lightly blended some Tranquil Teal Ink to the pointed end of each water droplet.

Using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer, I trim my blended panel down to be 3 3/4" x 5" and cut off the lower right corner. I then adhered the panel to a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" piece of Slate Cardstock using Terrific Tape

Taking a slightly larger die from my Infinity Circles Die Set, I cut out of Slate Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then mounted my greeting to it using Liquid Glue. (I didn't get a picture, sorry) Finally, I adhere the blended panel to a Tranquil Teal Cardstock card base using Terrific Tape. I add Foam Tape to the back of my greeting and mount it to the card front, and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I used a script background stamp, but any background stamp with a design would work great for this technique. A stencil with larger design openings works best. I think this would make a great masculine card. I also think by changing up the colors and maybe adding a fine polka dot background stamp in place of the script and add a congratulations greeting, this would be an adorable baby card!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
