Today, I will be using the Alcohol Lift technique to create a masculine card for my oldest son! With his birthday being right around Independence Day, I thought I would go with a patriotic theme. I will be creating a panel using alcohol inks and alloy on Yupo paper. Using a stencil, I will lift the alcohol ink creating a burst effect that will go around my greeting. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat

To start, I take a piece of Yupo Paper and add some Blending Solution to it. Next, I add drops of Cobalt Alcohol Ink, followed by Glacier Alcohol Ink and finally I add Cranberry Alcohol Ink. To finish, I add some Gilded Alloy Alcohol Ink. To help the ink to move, I add more drops of Blending Solution to the panel, making sure to add some to the drops of alloy to help break up the gold particles. I now take my Air Blower and move the ink around. I add a few more drops of blending solution and ink then continue to blow the ink around until I am satisfied with the look, I then set the panel aside to dry for about 20 minutes. I had a couple of areas that weren't drying, so I blotted those areas with a paper towel. *To clean my glass mat, I use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol to remove all of the ink that ran off of the panel, then take a wet rag to wipe down the glass and and finish by going over it with a dry cloth.

Taking my Sunshine Stencil, I tape it down onto the inked panel using Purple Tape.

Next, I take an Applicator with a felt pad and add some Alcohol Lift Reinker to it. I then dab over the stencil until all areas are covered and I see the ink starting to get lighter. I now carefully remove the stencil then take a paper towel and lay over the top of the panel, pressing down to soak up the lift ink. I then take a soft cloth and gently buff over the stenciled areas to pick up any remaining ink. *To clean my stencil I use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol to remove any ink then wipe down with a wet rag.

From the Master Layouts 1 Dies Set I take the smaller rectangle die to cut out my inked panel then use the bigger rectangle die to cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then use Terrific Tape and adhere them together. ***Anytime I use dies to cut an alcohol inked panel, I use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol to go over the die removing any ink that may have stuck to the die. Also, to keep the ink off of my cutting plates, I lay a piece of copy paper between the plate and panel.

I cut a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Foam to be 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I remove the release paper and adhere it to my panel then onto a Red Velvet Cardstock card base.

For my sentiment, I take the smallest die from my Single Stitched Circles Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then add a little Dot Runner Adhesive to the back of the circle die cut and place into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I take a greeting from The Best Flowers Stamp Set and stamp it onto the circle using Amalgam Obsidian Ink. I let the ink dry for a few minutes then prep the circle using my Anti Static Powder Bag and stamp a smaller greeting from the same stamp set just below and across my first greeting using Versamark Embossing Ink. I add Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

Taking a slightly bigger circle die from my Infinity Circles Die Set, I cut out of Metallic Gold Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I add Liquid Glue and adhere the two circle die cuts together. Finally, I add Foam Tape to the back and mount onto the center of my card and add small star sequins from my stash and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed this card and learned another way to use alcohol lift ink. I just love making alcohol inked backgrounds. Even when I only need one panel and am satisfied with the results, I think to myself, why not make one more... it's hard to stop!!!
I will be off visiting the grandkids tomorrow but will be back on Thursday with another fun card project!!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
