Today's card project is water coloring using regular Distress Inks. I enjoyed using these inks a couple of days ago and have been wanting to water color this new stamp set from Altenew. This set has many different floral images to color along with a good assortment of leaves. This set is also good for creating a random floral background. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To begin, I place a panel of watercolor cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it using my Anti Static Powder Bag. I stamp multiple floral images from the Flower Garden Stamp Set using Versamark Embossing Ink then add Detail Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. I also stamp and heat emboss some leaves.
*The watercolor cardstock I am using today was purchased at my local Walmart and is very inexpensive. I will add a picture so you can see what it looks like if you are interested in finding it. This is a great quality cardstock and you cannot beat the price!

I press my ink pads I will be using onto my Glass Media Mat, this will be my palette. I will be using two Water Brushes filled with clean water, one for wetting my images and blending, the other to apply color. I start my water coloring by wetting the first petal, I then take my second water brush and pick up Tattered Rose Distress Ink from my palette and apply at the base of the petal. Now, I take my clean water brush to pull and fade the color out towards the end of the petal. I repeat this process for each petal. This first layer is very light, I'm just creating a base. *I have a paper towel to remove color from the water brush, and to remove water if the brush becomes too wet.

To add some shading and shadows I now add Abandoned Coral Distress Ink. I repeat the coloring process but blend and fade the color out about 3/4 of the way to the end of the petal. I want to leave some light/white areas towards the tips.

I now move on to my next flower. I repeat the coloring process by first wetting the petal then taking the second water brush to add color at the base then blend and fade out towards the end of the petal using the clean water brush. For this flower I add Milled Lavender Distress Ink. I continue this process for each petal. Again, this is a very light color for the base.

I now add Dusty Concord Distress Ink to the base of the petal then take my clean water brush to blend and fade out about 3/4 of the way to the end of the petal, leaving the ends light/white.

I now move on to the next flower and repeat the coloring process from the other two flowers. I add Milled Lavender Distress Ink. Again, wetting the petal, adding ink to the base then blend and fade out towards the end of the petal.

I then add Dusty Concord Distress Ink to the base of each petal then blend and fade 3/4 of the way out.

For my last cluster of flowers I again repeat the coloring process, this time using Scattered Straw Distress Ink. I first lay down a light base, then come back with Mustard Seed Distress Ink for my second color.

For the leaves, I add Bundled Sage Distress Ink to the base then blend out over most of the leaf. I then add Weathered Wood Distress Ink to the base and fade out.

For each flower I colored, I come back with it's second color and add small amounts to the base and under any overlapping petals where the darkest shadows would be, keeping the color concentrated in those areas. I also add Wild Honey Distress Ink to the center of the yellow flowers and added Dusty Concord Ink to the center of the purple flower. This finishes up my coloring.

I now fussy cut all of my images using my Razor Edge Shears.

To add some interest and texture to my background, I cut a 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take the Color Block Diagonal Stripes Die and run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Keeping all of the stripes in order, I use Liquid Glue and start adhering them down to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock panel. I like to start at one of the corner pieces lining up both ends and pressing into place. I add glue to each strip and adhere them into place.

Next, I take the biggest die from the Stitched Oval Die Set and cut out of kraft cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I place the oval and background into my MISTI and arrange the flowers around so I can find my greeting placement. I then remove the flowers and stamp a greeting from the Heartfelt Sentiments Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

I adhere my background panel onto a white card base using Double Sided Tape. To give the oval a little dimension and create separation from the background, I cut a smaller oval out of Double Sided Adhesive Foam and adhere onto the back of the oval greeting. I then mount onto my background.

Using Liquid Glue, I start gluing down my flowers with exception to the bigger purple flower, I add Foam tape to the back of it and press into place. To fill in the open areas and make the cluster a little more full, I glue leaves into place. Using my Jewel Picker I add Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card, it was a fun set to play with. Altenew really has some beautiful floral stamp sets that are perfect for water coloring, I look forward to seeing what they come up with next!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
