Today's card project uses scraps leftover from some of my past cards. I got this idea from a past video from Jennifer McGuire. For today's card, I will be using alcohol ink scraps. I will be using a die inlay technique to use up some of my scraps. There will be a minimal amount of ink blending, just enough to add a little shading to the background and creating a slight highlight for the sentiment. For this, I will be using regular Distress Ink. I love ink blending on colored cardstock, it adds depth and can create highlighted areas. All of the products used on today's card are from Scrapbook.com. Let's get started!!

All of my work will be done on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out of Mermaid Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Next, I take my Blender Brush and blend Tumbled Glass Distress Ink around the center area of my panel, leaving the very center untouched where I will later stamp my sentiment. To add a darker contrast, I blend Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to the corners and edges of the panel.
Next, using my MISTI Stamp Postioner, I stamp a sentiment from the Heartfelt Stamp Set with Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

Taking my Leafy Branch Die, and Neenah White Cardstock, I run through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine and cut out eight branches. I choose a few pieces of my alcohol ink scraps to die cut. I take them and the same die, and run through my Big Shot. I cut out four branches, keeping the pieces intact. *Keeping the pieces intact will make it much easier to match up for the inlay process.

Using Liquid Glue, I double stack and adhere the white dies together so that I now have four. I lay them onto my blended panel around the sentiment to see where I want them mounted. Using Liquid Glue, I adhere them down onto my panel.

One by one, I start my die inlay process. Using Liquid Glue, I add a little to one leaf at a time and inlay the coordinating alcohol ink piece and press into the die. I repeat this process until all leaves are filled.

I then use my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer and trim off all overhang. Next, I mount onto a white card base using Double Sided Tape, add a few Water Droplets using Liquid Glue, and this completes my card.

I hope you found some useful tips in today's card project. Anytime you have excess pieces leftover from a card, save them for future cards. You can see with this die, even small scraps would work. This is a great die to use with this technique. Any die with open areas would work.
***The water droplets I use on my cards have been very popular! I believe they should be back in stock any day now. BUT, I did just notice, and I do not have (yet)... they now have Heart Shaped Water Droplets!!  AND, they are in stock! They come in three different sizes, or a mix. I hope to get my hands on some for myself soon! Anytime a product is out of stock, click on the "notify me" button on the product page and the store will email you when the product is back in stock.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
