Hello, welcome to my blog!!
I hope you had a good weekend and are staying healthy. We had our power go out for 27 hours, and let me tell you! You sure don't realize how many things are tied to electricity until you don't have it. We finally had our power restored today at 2:45 pm, needless to say, my husband and I were thrilled to say the least!
Today, I chose something simple. I love coloring a focal point and creating a simple platform for it. I will be using regular Distress Inks to blend a simple background. I will also use Distress Inks to do a quick watercolor on my images. Lately, I have been enjoying doing water coloring with Distress Inks. They are awesome for ink blending and work great for water coloring. Let's get started!!
I will be doing all of my work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.
To start, I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. (YAY, it's back in stock!!) I use my Blender Brush to blend Tumbled Glass Distress Ink onto the upper, center portion of my panel, fading out toward the center. I want to create a soft backdrop for my image, highlighting the center a bit.
Next, taking the middle sized circle my Reverse Stitched Scalloped Circle Dies and a circle slightly larger from my Infinity Circle Die set, I add Purple Tape to hold them together. With white cardstock, I run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine three times. I then stack and glue the circles together using Liquid Glue.
Using my MISTI Stamp Positioner, I stamp my images from the Perfectly Perfect Stamp Set with Amalgam Ink onto a scrap piece of white cardstock.
Using my Glass Media Mat as a pallet, I press my ink pads onto the white glass. I then use my Water Brush to pick up my first color,Tattered Rose Distress Ink and add a base color to the petals of the flower, starting at the base and fading to the tips. Next I add Abandoned Coral Distress Ink the same way. I finish with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink in the shadow areas. I do the same process for the leaves. I start with Bundled Sage Distress Ink to lay a base color down, then add Weathered Wood Distress Ink for some contrast. Once my coloring is finished, I fussy cut my images out using my Fiskars Shears. Using Liquid Glue, I attach the leaves to the flower.
I place my blended panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and choose a sentiment from my Heartfelt Stamp Set and stamp with Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink onto the bottom right corner. I then adhere the panel onto a Guava Cardstock top folding card base.
I now take the scalloped circle and adhere it over the blended area of my card front using Liquid Glue. I use my Leafy Branch Die and cut out of white cardstock running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then cut the die in half and attach to the back of my flower cluster using Liquid Glue. To attach the flower cluster to the card front, I add Foam Dots to the back of the flower and Liquid Glue to the leaves and adhere over the scalloped circle.
Using Liquid Glue, I add Water Droplets to the card front and this completes my card.
I hope you enjoyed today's card project. Even though there were several steps to this card, it came together pretty quickly. This scalloped die when used with a slightly larger circle die gives a great anchor for stamped images. When used by itself, it creates a beautiful scalloped window and would also work great for a shaker window!
