Hello, welcome to by blog!!
Scrapbook.com is celebrating National Craft Month, and their Huge Die Cutting Sale is happening now! Save 20% to 50% on all your Die Cutting needs from machines to dies and more! These low prices are good through Monday, March 23rd at midnight MST. I've placed a store logo on the front page of my blog, just down below my profile that takes you directly to their store!
*Re-Design, Rina K, Gina K, Lawn Fawn, My Sweet Petunia (MISTI), and Scrapbook.com 'Handmade Essentials' Stamp Set (SKU sbc-ds19-7) are excluded from all discounts and promotions.
Today I will be die cutting with vellum. Vellum die cuts easily and gives a nice, soft look to any project. I will also be doing some ink blending, using regular Distress Inks. I will be blending using the spotlight technique to highlight my greeting and sentiment. This is a simple card to create and the spotlight technique gives it an eye catching look! Let's get started!!
I will be doing all of my work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.
To start, I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Using my Blender Brushes, I start with Tumbled Glass Ink and blend around the center of the panel, fading out to white in the very center. Next, I use Mermaid Lagoon Ink and blend toward the edges of my panel, then blend back a bit into the previous color. For my final color, I use Salty Ocean Ink, blending on the edges and corners of the panel, also blending back into the previous color. I then go back through each color to intensify and blend.

Using my Blender Brushes, I start with Tumbled Glass Ink and blend around the center of the panel, fading out to white in the very center. For my final color, I use Salty Ocean Ink, blending on the edges and corners of the panel, also blending back into the previous color. I then go back through each color to intensify and blend.
Next, I lay my blended panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner to stamp my greeting. I choose a greeting from my Script Greetings Stamp Set and stamp onto the center of the panel using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.
I now choose a sentiment from the same stamp set and stamp it onto Black Cardstock using Versamark Embossing Ink. I then add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
Next, I cover one side of a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Vellum with 2" Double Sided Adhesive, this is how I will adhere my vellum die cuts to my panel so that no glue shows through. I now take the vellum and die from the Frame Builder Botanical Rectangle Die set (there are two different dies in this set, I am only using the leaf one) and run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I take the first vellum die cut, remove the release paper and carefully place onto the bottom portion of the blended panel and press into place to secure. I repeat for the other die cut and place at the top of the panel and press into place.
At this point, I decided I wanted to break up the color a bit and add some texture to the panel, I take a small paintbrush and splatter with clean water. I leave it sit for a few seconds then lay a paper towel over to pick the water and color up. I then adhere the panel onto a Storm Clouds card base using Double Sided Tape.
I decide to add a little bit of interest to the die cuts and remove the release paper from a few of the leaves insides then stick them back in.
I also spatter a little bit of black ink onto the panel. Next, I trim down my embossed sentiment, cutting each end at an angle and adhere just under my greeting using Foam Tape. I then add some Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.
I hope you enjoyed today's card project. I love trying different colors of ink together and seeing the outcome. Whether it's bright, bold colors or soft, subtle colors the outcome is always exciting to see!
