With Love & Prayers

Hello,welcome to my blog!

Today's card project is a clean and simple blending technique using Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencils. These stencils can be used to create an evenly masked focal point for your cards with a simple stamped image.

Let's get started!!

I start with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel. Using Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencil, I lightly spray Pixie Spray on the back of the smaller of the two masking stencil and let dry for a couple of minutes. Next, I line up my panel on the back side of the stencil using the grid marks and press on to the stencil. *The Pixie Spray is a low tack adhesive that holds stencils into place, so there's no need for tape. Turning the stencil over to the front side, using my Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes, I start my ink blending. I will be using Oxide inks to do my blending. I start with Spun Sugar and blend starting on the right side of my panel. Next, I use Tumbled Glass and blend onto the center of my panel, slightly blending into my first color. I use Shaded Lilac for my third and final color, blending onto the left side of the panel and slightly blending into the previous color. I go back with each color, blending another layer while overlapping each color to create a seamless blend.

Next, using my MISTI stamp positioner, I stamp the floral image from Gina K. Designs Peaceful Floral stamp set with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I choose a sentiment from the same set, line it up and stamp in the lower left corner of my blended rectangle. The ink I use is a pigment ink which stays wet longer, so I heat set it to dry using my Ranger Heat Tool. I now trim my panel down to 3 3/4" x 5" making sure to trim evenly from each side to keep my blending centered.

I mount my panel onto a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" Gina K. Designs Stormy Sky cardstock panel, then mount onto a Gina K. Designs Soft Stone card base.

To finish off my card, using my Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue, I glue down some black jewels from Lucy's Cards Jewels.

I hope you enjoyed today's clean and simple card design. Creating a blended center with a black stamped image gives a clean, crisp look to any card. I used an image that would normally be colored, but also looks great stamped in black over a colored background. This card would also look nice stamped with a solid image to create a silhouette affect.

Enjoy the weekend and come back on Monday for another fun card project!

Trapped Ink Mandala Stencil

Hello, welcome to my blog!! Today's card project uses the Trapped Ink technique, where you lay down your ink and embossing using clear embossing ink. You then add black ink over the entire image and the ink trapped under the clear embossing shines through. Today, I will be using a stencil that has a lot of detail. Adding black ink over colored ink gives a bright, vivid result. I will be using Gina K. Designs inks, cardstock and products. Let's get started!! I start with a 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" White cardstock square panel. Using Purple Tape , I center and adhere to the back of my Square Mandala Stencil . I flip the stencil over to do some ink blending. Using my Blender Brushes , I start my blending with Pink Passion ink blending at the top left corner, then fading out a little. I then use Wild Dandelion  ink, blending onto the panel and fading out, I also blend back into the previous pink ink to create my orange. The next color I use, is Blue Raspberry  ink. I la...
