Perfect Blend

Hello, welcome to my blog!

With a big snow storm heading our way today, I thought I would make a warm, comforting card. Today's card project focuses on ink blending with warm earth tone colors, using regular distress inks... a change from the brightly colored cards I've been making lately. I've had this stamp set for a couple of years, but I think this is the first card I've made with it!

Let's get started!!

I start with a 3 1/2" x 5" white Neenah cardstock panel. Using Tea Dye Distress ink, I blend color onto my white panel with my Jumbo Sponge Dauber. Next, I use Vintage Photo to lay down more color. I then blend Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain onto my panel, building up the color and shades. For my final color, I use Black Soot just to the edges and corners of the panel to create a shadow border.

Next, I add some water droplets to my panel using my Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer filled with clean water. I Squeeze the sprayer slowly to create large and small droplets. I leave the water sit on the panel for about 30 seconds, then lay a paper towel on it to soak up the water. After doing this, I decided I wanted the ink on the panel to be darker, so I add more Tea Dye, Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain ink to darken it up a little. Again, I add water droplets.

I randomly stamp the coffee beans from Gina K. Designs Perfect Blend stamp set onto my panel with Walnut Stain ink. I use my MISTI for my stamping so I can ink and stamp 2 times to give a darker image. Next, I adhere to a 3 5/8" x 5 1/8" Gina K. Designs Black Onyx cardstock panel, then attach to a Lawn Fawn Paper Bag card base.

Using Gina K. Designs Double Stitched Ovals die and Lawn Fawn Paper Bag cardstock, I cut an oval using my Big Shot die cut machine. Next, using my MISTI stamp positioner, I stamp a greeting from the same stamp set onto the oval with Amalgam Jet Black ink. I then use my Jumbo Sponge Dauber to add some Walnut Stain ink to the edges of the oval.

Using one of the coffee cups from the same stamp set, I stamp using Amalgam Jet Black ink onto Neenah cardstock. I color the image with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers then fussy cut it out. I also stamped one of the coffee beans onto the label of the cup

Using Darice Foam Strips, I mount my oval greeting onto my card front along with the coffee cup and my card is finished.

Distress inks made creating a background simple with the ease of it's blending abilities. Give distress inks a try for blending with stencils also.

I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing weekend. Come back on Monday for another fun card project.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
