Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes - Two Cards

Hello, welcome to by blog!

Today's card project will be featuring Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes and dies. I will show you how to create two cards quickly and easily. These brushes are so easy to use, they lay color down effortlessly. There are 10 brushes in the set, each with a different colored handle for each color family.
***January 23 (9AM CST) - January 24 (9AM CST), Taylored Expressions is having a Flash Sale, offering 30% off their Blender Brushes (normally $49.00, now $34.30!) and Brush Caddie (normally $17.00, now $11.90!), this is an AWESOME sale!!!

Let's get started!!

To start, I take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel to do my ink blending. Today I will be using Distress Ink for all of my blending. To start, I choose 8 colors that will be needed for the die I will be using. I start my blending with Candied Apple, then move on to Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet and ending with Dusty Concord. When applying each color, I overlap my blending to the previous color to create a seamless blend. * A tip when it comes to getting a good blend, build your color up. Go back over each color of ink, and remember to blend into each other. Achieving a good blend is to build up the ink coverage.

Next, I use Taylored Expressions Diagonal Stripes Cutting Plate to cut my inked panel using my Big Shot die cut machine. I remove each diagonal from the frame. These are the pieces I will make two cards from.

I add small dots of Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue on the backside of my frame, and let dry for a few minutes so that the glue becomes tacky to hold my frame in place as I add the diagonals onto a Taylored Expressions Poppy Seed card base. Using Connect liquid glue, I start gluing my diagonals back into the frame. Once I have all of the pieces glued down, I gently pull up on the frame and remove, leaving all of the diagonals perfectly aligned. The frame will be used on our second card.

Next I cut a sentiment for the front of the card using Taylored Expressions Thanks Script die. I cut it out 3 times using Poppy Seed cardstock and run it through my Big Shot. Next I stack and glue together using my Connect glue. I then glue down at an angle onto the front of my card and finish off by adding black jewels from Lucy's Cards Ebony Mix.

For my second card, I glue down my inked frame onto a Poppy Seed card base and set aside. Using the same Diagonal Stripes Cutting Plate, I again cut with my Big Shot, this time using a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of Poppy Seed cardstock, I will be using only the diagonals from this cut. I then glue the diagonals back in to the inked frame.

For the greeting on this card, I use the same Thanks Script die and cut once out of Poppy Seed cardstock. I next take a white cardstock panel and ink blend again in rainbow order. I cut from this inked panel using the Taylored Expressions Thanks Script Backer die, again running it through my Big Shot. I then adhere my greeting onto the inked backer using Connect glue.

I glue down my greeting across the front of my card and finish off by adding some colored jewels from Lucy's Cards Rainbow Sparkle.

This completes today's card project. I hope you enjoyed seeing some of Taylored Expressions products used today. I love using her cover plates and how I can easily make two cards at once. I'm a big fan of Taylored Expressions, not only are her products great, but Taylor herself is so sweet and has a huge heart, she is just a wonderful person! I had the honor of meeting her and taking her class at JunkieFest last year. What a wonderful company to support!

Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
