Masking Stencil & Perfect Pearls

Hello, welcome to my blog!

Today's card, I will show you how to get the perfect masking using Taylored Expressions new masking stencils, along with using Perfect Pearls... such an affordable product that gives so much shimmer to a card! This card is inspired by a Jennifer McGuire video I watched, years ago.

Let's get started!!

To start, I cut a 4 1/4' x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel and tape it to my Taylored Expressions Rectangle Masking Stencil, I use the larger stencil in this set.

Next, I start blending my panel using Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes with three colors of Distress Inks. I start first with Worn Lipstick  and blend on the right side of the panel. The second color I chose is Picked Raspberry to blend the center, blending into the previous color a bit. With the third color, Wilted Violet, I blend on the left side of the panel blending a bit into the previous color. I go back with each color and blend them together to get a seamless blend.

For the next step, I take a soft brush and tap onto the panel some Perfect Pearls powder (the pearl color). I then softly tap and move around the powder with the soft brush until the colored ink is coated with shine then brush away any extra powder. I carefully remove my panel from the stencil. To help seal the powder, I spray clean water into the air to create a fine mist with my Distress Sprayer bottle and wave the panel through the water mist.

Next, I lightly mist the back side of my panel with clean water (this helps to soften the paper a bit to avoid cracking when using 3D folders) then place the panel in my Tim Holtz Sizzix 3D Botanical embossing folder and run it through my Big Shot die cut machine. ***Be sure to check  your machine's sandwich order for 3D embossing folders.

I now trim 1/4" off each side so I'm left with a 3 3/4" x 5" panel and mount it onto a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" Taylored Expressions Oreo cardstock panel. I then mount onto a Taylored Expressions Jelly Donut top folding card base.

For my greeting, I use the Simon Says Stamp Love Shadow die and cut the word Love out of Oreo cardstock and the shadow three times out of white Neenah cardstock using my Big Shot. I then use Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue to glue together the three shadow layers to give dimension, then glue the black Love die onto the shadow.

Next, I choose a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words stamp set and stamp it with Versamark embossing ink onto Oreo cardstock, using my MISTI stamp positioner. I add Brutus Monroe Alabaster embossing powder and heat emboss with my Wagner heat tool. I use the smallest die from Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels to die cut my sentiment. I take my T-Square Ruler to make sure the sentiment is straight on my card and glue it down. Next, I glue the Love greeting above the sentiment. To finish off my card, I add jewels from Lucy's Cards Jewels to match the shades of my ink.

I hope you enjoyed today's card project using Masking Stencils for perfect placement, 3D embossing folder to add dimension, Perfect Pearls to add shimmer and jewels to add sparkle! This card would be great for Valentine's Day or just to let someone you love know how special they are.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
