Hello, welcome to my blog!
I'm having fun creating backgrounds with ink blending lately! Today's card project is creating an ombre effect, ink blending with distress inks. I love the look of dark ink fading through lighter colors that fade off into the white cardstock. Distress inks makes this look so easy to achieve! Let's get started!!
I start with a 4" x 5 1/4" white Neenah cardstock panel, using my Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes, I blend Milled Lavender Distress Ink on to the lower section of my panel, fading off into the white cardstock at the bottom. For my second color, I blend Wilted Violet Distress Ink just above and blend into the previous color. For my third color, I use Dusty Concord Distress Ink and blend the top of my panel, blending into the previous color.
To deepen my top color even more, I add Black Soot Distress Ink to the very top edge, coming down the corners just a bit. I then go through and add more of each color blending them together until I get a seamless blend and achieve the depth I want.
Next, to add a little interest to my panel, I splatter clean water using a small paintbrush to create droplets and let dry. I then mount my panel onto a white 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" top folding card base.
I now take my Simon Says Stamp Sunflower Stem die with white cardstock and run through my Big Shot die cut machine. I do this 3 times the stack and glue together using Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue. I glue this down to the front left side of my card front.
Next, using my MISTI, I stamp a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words stamp set onto Taylored Expressions Oreo cardstock, inking with Versamark ink. I then emboss my sentiment using Brutus Monroe Alabaster embossing powder and heat set with my Wagner heat tool. I cut out my sentiment using Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label Dies with my Big Shot, and glued down onto the front of my card. I add some water droplets using Lucy's Cards Raindrops Mix and my card is finished.
Today's card was quick and it was fun seeing it come together. Creating stacked dies is a great way to add dimension and a focal image to your card.
