Creative Fold

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Today's card project will be an A2 size with a creative fold that requires an 8 1/2" x 11" full sheet of cardstock. Because we will be cutting our sheet in half, you will be able to make two cards out of one sheet of cardstock. For some reason I am on a kick with wedding cards lately! I think it is Gina K. Designs Scripty Love stamp set that is steering me in that direction.  Let's get started on today's card!!

To start, I take a full 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of Gina K. Designs Stormy Sky cardstock. Using my Scor-Buddy, I score it at 4 1/4", rotate then score at 5 1/2". *If using the Scor-Buddy, you will have to score half way down the sheet of cardstock for your 4 1/4" score, then turn the cardstock to the other end and score again at 4 1/4". Repeat for the 5 1/2" score.

Next, I cut the sheet of cardstock in half diagonally. If you have a large paper trimmer/cutter, this will be easy, just cut corner to corner. I did my cutting using the Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. Because this trimmer is 8 1/2" my cardstock did not fit diagonally so I VERY carefully removed the plastic guard in order to make my cut. I lined up the top corner, then felt underneath the cardstock where the center scores met and lined that up along the cutting edge of my trimmer. Holding the cardstock firmly in place, I cut to the center of the sheet of cardstock, then turned it around and repeated. I now fold along my scored edges and it is now an A2 size.
***I do not recommend removing the plastic guard, I'm just explaining what I did with mine. I was able to snap the guard back into place and I still have all of my fingers!!***

I now cut a 4" x 5 1/4" Stormy Sky panel and prep it with my Anti Static powder bag. Using my MISTI stamp positioner, I stamp using Gina K. Designs Petite Flourish background stamp with Versamark ink. I then emboss with Gina K. Designs Detail Gold embossing powder and heat set with my Wagner heat tool.

I take my embossed panel and cut it in half diagonally. Next, to create a little shadow on my panel, using my Life Changing Blender Brushes, I blend some Gina K. Designs Black Onyx ink onto the three edges then lightly buff over the embossed image with a soft cloth to remove any ink sitting on the embossing.

For my greeting, I cut out of Stormy Sky cardstock using Gina K. Designs Double Stitched Ovals dies running them through my Big Shot die cut machine. Using my MISTI, I stamp a greeting from Gina K. Designs Scripty Love stamp set with Versafine ink. I then add Detail Gold embossing powder and heat set. Again, I blend some Black Onyx ink onto the edges.

Now it's time to assemble the card. Using Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue, I adhere the embossed panels onto the outside flaps of the card. Taking some gold cord I have in my stash, I loop it up a few times and tape it to the back right side of my oval greeting. To mount my greeting, I use Gina K. Designs Foam Tape and add it to the back right side where I adhere it to the front of the card. I add a few sequins from my stash and my card is complete.

I hope you found today's card project interesting and maybe learned a new fold. When the flaps are folding together, the card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and fits into a regular A2 envelope. The Petite Flourish background stamp can be used for a fun whimsical look, or when paired with the Scripty greetings it gives a nice elegant look. Looking at this card design, I think this fold would be great for homemade invitations maybe turning the card upside down so it opens from the top and tying closed with a sheer ribbon.

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
