Window Of Flowers

Hello, welcome to my blog!

Today's card project is a little out of my comfort zone. I don't do a lot of coloring, but wanted to change things up a little from my normal bright, vibrant rainbow backgrounds. I wanted to use a window die with flowers showing through along with a little coloring using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. So let's get started!!

To start, I take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of Neenah white cardstock to do a little ink blending with distress inks. I start with Twisted Citron, using my Taylored Expressions Blender Brushes, I blend at the top center of my white panel. Next, using Squeezed Lemonade, I blend on the edges of the previous color, fading out into the edges of the white cardstock.

Using Wplus9 Trellis Background 1 Die, I run my blended panel through my Big Shot die cut machine, and pop out all of the pieces.

Next, I take Lawn Fawn Reverse Stitched Scalloped Circle Windows die, and center it on my background panel then with a pencil, I trace the inside of the circle die to create my window. I then cut away the pieces.

To create the scallop window frame, I take the scallop die and choose one of the circle dies from my Infinity set that is just big enough for my scallop die to fit inside and tape them together along the back side using Purple Tape. I then take a piece of Gina K. Designs Jelly Bean Green cardstock and run them through my Big Shot and set aside.

Taking a piece of Gina K. Designs Masking Magic, (big enough to mask a window for my image) I cut a circle with my Big Shot using Hero Arts Infinity Circle dies. *I choose the size that is just a little smaller in diameter to the scallop window die. I then remove the release paper and center over a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock (this cardstock is the best for blending with Zig markers).

I place my masked panel into my MISTI stamp positioner and stamp my image using Gina K. Designs Bitty Blossoms along with Gina K. Designs Amalgam Jet Black ink, then carefully remove my mask.

Using my Zig Clean Real Brush markers, I color my image. I start with Yellow and Bright Yellow followed by Orange. I use my Water Brush filled with clean water, starting with the lightest color and blend out to the edges of each petal. For the small leaf areas, I use Pale Green and Light Green and blend.

I decided I wanted the centers of my flowers to be a little darker, so I added a little Carmine Red. My coloring is now finished.

To add a little sparkly interest to my blended background I lightly spray Inkon3 Liquid Pixie Dust (mixed with water) over my panel.

Next, using Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue, I adhere my blended panel onto my stamped panel. I then attach my scallop window frame over my stamped image using Connect glue and trim down to 4" x 5 1/8". I now mount onto a 4 1/8" x 5 1/4" Gina K. Designs Black Onyx . Finally, I adhere to Gina K. Designs Sweet Mango cardstock base.

For my sentiment, I use Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words. Using my MISTI, I stamp with Amalgam Jet Black ink onto Sweet Mango cardstock. Next, I cut out my sentiment with Honey Bee Sentiment Banners dies using my Big Shot and attach to the front of my card. *The green scallop window frame didn't stand out enough for me, so I decided to cut a new frame in Black Onyx and glued over the top. I felt the black tied everything together better. I finish off my card with some black jewels from Lucy's Cards Ebony Mix and colored jewels from Lucy's Cards Rainbow Sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed today's card project and learned some tips along the way. This card was much different from the cards I usually make. It's fun to venture outside of our comfort zones and try new things. You never know which techniques you may like until  you give them a try! Come back on Monday for another fun project. Enjoy your weekend!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
