Masculine Valentine

Hello, welcome to my blog!

Today's card project, I'm calling it a masculine Valentine. I think this would be great to give to the man in your life for Valentine's Day. With the gold, black and silver colors, I think it gives off a nice masculine look. This card is made with a die inlay technique using alcohol ink on black alcohol cardstock.

Let's get started!!

To start, I use black alcohol cardstock and lay down 91% isopropyl alcohol, then add drops of gold and silver metallic alcohol ink mixative. I then use my marker airbrush tool to move the ink around. Once I am satisfied with the look of my panel, I set it aside to completely dry for about an hour.

Next, I take my Floral Heart die and tape it down over my inked background. I then run it through my Big Shot die cut machine. I carefully pick up the die, keeping the pieces intact. Using my Tim Holtz Craft Pick and keeping the die close to my surface, I poke out each piece keeping them in the same order as they were in the die. This makes it much easier to inlay back into my panel. Any pieces that fall out, I place back into the design after removing all pieces.

Using the same die, I decide where I want my image to be on my card and tape it down onto a 4" x 5 1/4" Gina K. Designs Stormy Sky cardstock panel. I again run it through my Big Shot. I poke out all of the pieces and adhere my panel onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Gian K. Designs Black Onyx card base.

Using Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue and my Jewel Picker, I start inlaying all of the pieces from my inked panel back into the negative areas on my card. I make sure to place each piece according to the design.

Now it's time to create a greeting for my card. Using my MISTI stamp positioner, I choose a greeting from Gina K. Designs Scripty Love stamp set and stamp with Versafine ink. Next, I heat emboss using Brutus Monroe Gilded embossing powder and heat set with my Wagner heat tool. Using Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label dies, I use my Big Shot and cut out my sentiment. I then trim the strip to be 4" long then adhere below my die cut image and this completes my card.

Die cut inlay is a great way to add interest to your card. You can you use a background you create, different colors of cardstock, patterned papers and it's also a great way to use up leftover scraps from your projects. Masculine cards are not always easy for me, but with golds, silvers, blacks and grays I think it gives a masculine look. Thank you for stopping by my blog and I hope you visit again soon!

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
