The Best Thing To Hold

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

For today's card, I will take a simple blended card and add a few extra touches to dress it up a bit. For texture and added interest, I will be using an embossing folder. I will also show you how to coordinate the background edges with the window frame and sentiment. For my ink blending, I will be using regular Distress Inks. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take the 5th largest die from my Infinity Circle Dies and center it on the upper portion of my panel then run it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Next, I lay the panel into my Cherry Blossom Embossing Folder and run it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

Next, using my Blender Brush, I blend Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink around the circle window and fade out. The next color I blend is Mustard Seed Distress Ink, I blend it around the previous color blending back into it a bit. Finally, I take Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and blend around the edges and corners, blending back into the previous color a bit. To finish, I go back with each color blending back in just a bit to create a soft blend.

I now take the 8th largest circle from my Infinity Circles Dies and cut out of a piece of Vellum running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Next, I place the vellum circle into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then choose a sentiment from the Special Thoughts Stamp Set and position it over the vellum circle. I pick up the stamp with my MISTI door, ink it up with Versamark Embossing Ink and stamp onto the vellum. I then add Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
*When heat setting on vellum, I like to heat from the back side. This helps prevent the powder from blowing off of the image and melting where you don't want it.

I now add Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of my circle window. I remove the release paper, line up the image through the window and press down to adhere.

To tie in the gold embossed sentiment, I decided to gold edge the panel that will show on either side when mounted. To do this, I take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock panel and drag my Versamark Embossing Ink pad along the edge, add Detail Gold Embossing Ink and heat set with my Heat Tool. I repeat the process for the other side. Next, I adhere my blended panel onto the gold embossed panel using Double Sided Adhesive Tape, centering so that gold shows on each side. I then adhere to a white card base.

To finish off the circle frame I take two of the circle dies, the 5th & 6th largest from the same Infinity Circle Dies, center them together then adhere using Purple Tape. I then take white cardstock along with the dies and run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

To tie in with the gold edging and sentiment, I again take my Versamark Embossing Ink and press onto my circle frame until it is completely inked up. I then add Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. Notice there is an indention on the circle frame. I don't like the look of that, so I repeat inking the frame with Versamark Embossing ink, adding Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat setting with my Heat Tool until the indention is gone completely smooth. I repeated this process about 4 times.

Using Liquid Glue, I add dots all around the back side of the frame then position over the blended panel window gently pressing into place. To hold it down, I set an acrylic block over the frame for a few minutes until it adheres.

I add a few Heart Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. Adding the extra gold embossing really tied things together and stepped up this simple card. Embossing on vellum gives a nice soft look rather than stamping on plain white cardstock. I found that ink blending after using an embossing folder makes the design pop a little more rather than inking first. With the huge selection of embossing folders out there, this card could easily be made for any occasion.

I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy
