Hello There

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

There has been SO MUCH interest on the Water Droplets I use on my cards that I thought I wanted to start out by letting everyone know that they are now BACK IN STOCK!! Yay!
***I need to post an update. The round water droplets that I use on my cards are now sold out again, boo!! However, they do have the smallest size still in stock, 4mm Water Droplets and 10mm Water Droplets (I've never tried the 10mm). Also, the Heart Shaped Droplets are still in stock. I just received my order yesterday and will be using the heart shaped drops on a couple of next week's cards to show you what they look like. I think you will love them as well!

For today's card project, I wanted to end the week with a floral card. I have really been having a lot of fun lately coloring different flowers. I ordered a few new things that arrived this week and wanted to try them out! Peonies are some of my favorite flowers to color and today I will be using Distress Oxide Inks to do some very simple water coloring. Oxide inks give a soft look to water coloring, just the look I was going for! Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Bristol Smooth Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I place my panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it using my Anti Static Powder Bag. I choose two images from the Precious Peony Stamp Set and stamp them onto my panel using Versamark Embossing Ink. I then add Detail Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *I couldn't decide which image I wanted to use!! I ended up only using the one and saved the other for a future project.

I now take Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink and Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink and press them onto the white area of my Glass Media Mat, using it as a pallet for my painting. Taking my Water Brush filled with clean water, I pick up Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink to begin my water coloring. I start at the base of each petal adding color, leaving the tips of each petal white. I add this color to each flower including the buds to create a light base color.

Next, I repeat the process this time using Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink. I add the ink going out about half way on each petal.

I continue with the same process for the leaves. I first lay down my base color using Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Ink. The second color I use on the leaves is Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Ink. This completes my water coloring.

I now fussy cut my water colored image using my Razor Edge Shears.

Next, I cut a panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Stitched Rectangle Dies, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Taking my Blender Brush, I blend Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Ink onto my panel where my image will be mounted as I want to create a backdrop. To break up the color a little and add some interest, I take a small paintbrush with clean water, I spatter onto my inked panel then lay a paper towel over the top to pick up the ink.

I now set my panel into my Misti Stamp Positioner and lay out my floral image to see where I want to stamp my greeting. I take a greeting from the Scripted Bold Sentiment 2 Stamp Set, and position it on my panel. Once I have it where I want it, I remove the floral image and stamp the greeting using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I then mount the panel onto a Peony Cardstock card base using Double Sided Tape.

To adhere my image, I add Foam Tape and position it onto my card front. Taking my Leafy Branch Die, I cut out of Vellum running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I cut the die in half, adding Liquid Glue to the ends then tuck under my floral image and adhere. After adding everything, I decide I want to add some black spatter over the greeting. I take Black Soot Distress Ink, press it onto my Glass Media Mat and take a small paintbrush with clean water mixing into the black ink, then spatter it over the greeting just a little.

To finish off my card I add Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card, I had fun playing with my new stamp sets! I find myself enjoying water coloring more and more. I don't stress out too much about where to add shadows and highlights or if I'm doing it right. I find it's enough for most images just getting a light wash of color down. I like to add two or three colors to give a little variance to my images.

I hope you all have a nice Easter weekend. Things will be different this year not getting together with family, but just remember, it won't always be this way and things WILL get better!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
