Inlay With Scraps

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Today features die cut inlay with scraps of alcohol inked backgrounds I've been saving from past projects. I love dies as they are, but if they can also be inlaid that is a bonus! I will also be ink blending my background using regular Distress Inks. With so many Distress Ink colors to choose from, it's fun to match up colors... even colors you wouldn't think would go together actually blend beautifully!  I will be doing my ink blending on colored cardstock using inks that coordinate.
Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take my Stitched Rectangle Dies and cut a panel out of Peony Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Next, taking my Blender Brushes, I decide where my sentiment will be on the finished card and blend Worn Lipstick Distress Ink around that area fading out at the center. Next, I take Seedless Preserves Distress Ink and blend around the rest of the panel, fading back a bit into the previous color. I then go back with each color and lightly blend into each other to create a seamless blend.

Next, I take my Botanical Rectangle Dies and cut out of white cardstock four times. I then trim off one end of each die cut changing it from a rectangle to a corner frame. Using Liquid Glue, I glue down one frame at the top left corner, the other to the bottom right corner. **I save the other two die cuts for a little later.

Taking some scraps of alcohol inked backgrounds I take the Botanical Rectangle Dies and cut out the flower and leaves areas using my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I chose some pink/burgundy and green/aqua colors of scraps, both scraps also have gold and silver mixatives blended into them. Next, using Liquid Glue I start inlaying all of the pieces into the die cuts.

For added dimension I add the other two die cut frames from earlier, I glue them on top of the two inlaid frames using Liquid Glue.

I now lay my panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. Taking a sentiment from the Special Thoughts Stamp Set, I stamp onto my panel using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

Using the biggest die from my Stitched Rectangle Dies, I cut out of white cardstock and mount onto a Plum Punch Cardstock card base using Double Sided Tape. I then take a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Foam and adhere to the back of my blended panel. I remove the release paper and mount onto the cardbase over the white panel. Finally, I add Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this finishes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and learned some ways to use up some scraps you may have. When I create panels, whether they be ink blended, alcohol inked, embossed, etc. I save all of my scraps for projects just like this. Take a look at the dies you may have and give inlaying a try, it's almost like putting a puzzle together, very relaxing!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
