Split Image

Hello, welcome to my blog!

I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend and found some time to do a little crafting!
In today's card project, I will be using one of my favorite stamp sets from Gina K. Designs, and one of my favorite dies from Taylored Expressions. I just checked on TE's website and this die looks to be back in stock!! Yay! This is a very popular die and can be used in so many ways. I will be doing some watercoloring with my Zig markers on my embossed image, then die cutting at the end.

***I also wanted to mention that My Sweet Petunia has an awesome deal going on right now, through January 31st. Their Studio Bag Mini MISTI Bundle is on sale for $45.00, normally $60.00. The regular price for the Mini MISTI is $45.00, so you are getting the studio bag for free! The Studio Bag is great for crafting on the go, or for me, I like to keep my watercolor panels along with my Zig markers, Color Bursts and water brushes in mine so when I feel like watercoloring, I just grab the bag and I know I have everything I need. There are also other sales going on at My Sweet Petunia that you may want to check out before the sales end. You can click on the My Sweet Petunia logo on the lower right side bar of my blog page, and it will direct you to their store.

So, let's get started!!

I start with a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock, big enough for my image to fit. I then prep my cardstock with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Using my MISTI, I stamp my image from Gina K. Designs Majestic Peony stamp set using Versamark ink. I emboss my image with Gina K. Designs Detail Gold embossing powder, and heat set using my Wagner heat tool.

Using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, I like to use 3 shades. To color the flowers, I start with Light Pink and lay down some color, then blend out towards the end of each petal with my water brush filled with clean water. I then use Light Carmine for my second color and repeat the process. I finish with my third color, Carmine Red adding color to the shadow areas. *When blending my colors, I like to tap and pull the color in short strokes with my water brush, being careful not to have too much water on the bristles.

Next, I add color to my leaves, first using Mid Green and finishing with Olive Green. I then finish off with coloring of the small flower buds with Light Pink and Light Violet. Once all of my coloring is done, I take a small paintbrush and add spatters of pink and black ink along with gold spatters from Gansai Tambi Starry Colors paint pallet and let dry.

I now take my Taylored Expressions Diagonal Stripes die and run my colored panel through my Big Shot die cut machine. I also run a panel of Gina K. Designs Stormy Sky cardstock with my Diagonal Stripes die through my Big Shot, pop out the pieces and mount the frame onto a white cardstock card base using my Gina K. Designs Connect liquid glue.

Using my Connect liquid glue, I start gluing my colored panel pieces into the Stormy Sky frame leaving the center stripe open.

I now cut the center stripe out of Stormy Sky cardstock and stamp a greeting from Gina K. Designs Scripty Love using Versamark ink and emboss with Detail Gold embossing powder then heat set.

For a little dimension, I add Gina K. Designs Foam Tape to the back of my greeting and mount over the center open stripe of my card front and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card project. This idea came from me tossing an extra frame I had made onto a pile of card panels I had sitting on my desk. The frame landed on top of a floral card front, and the idea popped into my head! I love the way this card turned out, it could be used for any occasion by changing the sentiment.
The Scripty Love set is one of my very favorites, it adds an elegant touch to any card. If you too like this set, Gina also has Scripty Sayings 1, Scripty Sayings 2, Scripty Holiday and a new incentive set called Scripty Encouragement that is yours free with a $75.00 order. *You also get free shipping with any order $50.00 or more!

    1. Are you talking about the stitching around each stripe section? The die I used to cut apart the sections has stitching around each piece. Hope this helps.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy
