Today, I have a quick and easy card for you using the trapped ink technique. Even though this card is quick and easy, it packs a punch with the bright, vibrant colors against the black background. This technique can be used with detailed images or bold images like I will be using today. I will keep it simple by only adding a greeting, letting the background be the focal point. The background I will be using is from Hero Arts and has a bold leafy pattern. For my ink blending, I will be using regular Distress Inks. With the colors I used, I think it gives off kind of a retro look! Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Using my Jumbo Sponge Dauber, I start by adding Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and blend onto the left upper corner and fading out a bit. I then blend Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, blending back into the previous color then fade out a bit. For my final color I blend Mustard Seed Distress Ink, blending back into the previous color. Using my Craft Heat Tool, I dry my panel making sure it is completely dry, you could also use your heat tool to dry it. *The reason I fade out each color is this helps to create a gradual blend with the next color and helps to avoid harsh lines.

After my panel is completely dry, I add a little Adhesive Dot Runner to the back and place it into my MISTI Stamp Positioner then press into place. I then prep the panel using my Anti Static Powder Bag. Next, I take the Leafy Bold Prints Stamp and stamp my panel using Versamark Embossing Ink, I re-ink and stamp a couple of times making sure to get good coverage. I then add Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *I make sure to completely melt the embossing powder to a smooth finish without overheating it. You will see an area over the yellow ink where I overheated the powder a little. I will later hide it with my greeting.

Using my Jumbo Sponge Dauber, I go over my embossed panel using Black Soot Distress Ink. Once the panel is covered in black ink, I take a baby wipe and gently wipe off the black ink sitting on top of the embossed areas. *In the second photo you can see in the yellow area where I overheated the embossing powder, the black ink adhered to it where it couldn't be removed.

Taking the smaller rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set I cut out of my embossed panel running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then take the bigger rectangle from the same die set and cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot.

Using Double Sided Tape I adhere my blended panel onto the black panel then mount onto an Azalea Cardstock card base.

Taking one of my Stitched Circles Dies I cut out of Azalea Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then add Adhesive Dot Runner to the back of the die cut and place it in my MISTI. I choose a sentiment from the Special Thoughts Stamp Set and stamp onto my die cut using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

Using a slightly bigger circle die from the Infinity Circles Die Set I cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then use Liquid Glue and adhere my sentiment to the black die cut. I add Foam Circles to the back and mount onto the front of my card and this finishes off my card.

I hope you enjoyed this colorful simple card. Using background stamps over a blended background is a great way to create a quick card. To give a reversed look, you could emboss the stamped image over the blended background using black embossing powder, in this case I would use the versafine clair nocturn ink in place of versamark clear embossing ink. This would give a black image over the colored background. This bold background is great for this technique and could also be used to create a tone on tone background, so many possibilities!!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
