Today is the final day of my Christmas In July series! For my fifth and final card I will be creating an alcohol inked background that I will be using with a border die from Paper Rose Studio. The die is a snowflake (surprise!) border die that cuts out an image within the card panel, the design is what keeps the panel intact. There are also several other designs available in this line of dies. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take a sheet of Yupo Paper and add some Blending Solution to it. I then add s few drops of Laguna Alcohol Ink, next I add Glacier Alcohol Ink, followed by Monsoon Alcohol Ink. *these colors are also sold together 3 Pack Teal Blue Spectrum. I then add three drops of Sterling Alloys Alcohol Ink then add a drop of Blending Solution to each alloy drop. Next, I use my Air Blower to move the inks around. *Anytime I use alloys, I always add a drop of blending solution over each drop. This helps break up and move the alloys.**The glass mat cleans up easily if any alcohol ink runs onto it, I just use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. However, I like to place a piece of copy paper under my yupo paper. It absorbs some of the ink run off, also I just pick up the paper to move the panel to another area in my room to dry.

Next, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take my Snowflake Border Die and place it onto the panel off center and run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. *I place a Metal Adaptor Plate under the bottom cutting plate when using intricate dies. I then use my Retractable Craft Pick to remove all of the pieces. Using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer I cut 1/4" off of the right side of the panel. *I will save this 1/4" strip to create a sentiment later.

Next, I place my die cut panel over my alcohol inked background to determine what part of the inked area I want to use. I then trim my inked background down to be 3" x 5 1/2". Using Double Sided Tape I adhere my die cut panel over the alcohol inked piece. I also use small amounts of Liquid Glue to hold down the intricate snowflakes.

Next, I trim down a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Foam to 3 3/4" x 5 1/4". I remove the release paper and adhere to the back of my panel.

For my card base, I take a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Mermaid Cardstock and score it at 5 1/2". This creates a top folding card base. I remove the release paper and mount the panel onto my card base leaving 1/8" space on each side.

I now take my Snowflake 4 Die and cut out of silver Glitter Cardstock and white cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. *I place a Metal Adaptor Plate under the bottom cutting plate when using intricate dies. I then use Liquid Glue and adhere the silver die cut over the white die cut.

I add Liquid Glue To the center and about a quarter of the way up on each side of the snowflake then mount onto my card front, lining up along the right side of the die cut window.

Next, I take my 1/4" strip from earlier and place it into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I choose a sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set and stamp it onto my strip using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I then angle cut both ends. To give my sentiment strip slight dimension I glue two small thin strips of cardstock to the back. I mount the sentiment over my snowflake die cut and use my Jewel Picker to add a few Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

This wraps up my Christmas In July series. I had a lot of fun creating cards and tags this week and hope they sparked some ideas for you! These border dies are so fun to create with. They would look great over ink blended backgrounds as well as metallic or glitter cardstock. Come back Monday when I get back to my all occasion cards.

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
