Stencil Blending W/Partial Die Cutting

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today's card is a simple ink blend using a stencil from Gina K. Desgins. I will also be using her inks and cardstock. Using unique layered cuts can change a simple technique into something more interesting. I will create a unique angle cut using partial die cutting. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the smaller rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then take my Mandala Stencil and adhere it over my panel using Purple Tape and tape down onto my Glass Mat

Using my Blender Brushes, I blend Passionate Pink Ink over my panel. I then blend Wild Lilac Ink to the center of each burst cluster. To complete my blending, I go back with Passionate Pink Ink and blend again over the entire panel. I then remove the stencil.

To give my panel an even angle cut, I take the bigger rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and tape it down where I want my panel cut. Using the bottom center design, I center the corner of the die and tape down using Purple Tape.

I set the panel and die onto the cutting plate of my Big Shot and lay the top cutting plate over the area I want to cut only. Wherever the top cutting plate is positioned is where it will cut. I then turn the handle and run through my Big Shot.

Next, I take a panel of Black Cardstock and use the bigger die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and run through my Big Shot. I then use Terrific Tape and adhere my blended panel onto the black panel, centering so the top and side edges are even.

I again take the bigger rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and line up on the previous cut leaving a slight black border then tape down. I place the panel onto the cutting plate of my Big Shot and lay the top plate over the top, again only where I want the die to cut and run it through. I now have an even mat around my panel. *I could have used my paper trimmer to cut this angle, but by using the die I not only get an even cut around both sides, I get a nice finished edge around the point.

Using the smallest die from the Single Stitched Circle Die Set I cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I add a small amount of Adhesive Dot Runner to the back of the circle die cut and place into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I choose a greeting from the Fancy Greetings Stamp Set, center over the circle die cut and stamp using Amalgam Obsidian Ink. *when stamping on a smaller piece of cardstock, I like to use adhesive on the back to hold it in place so it doesn't shift while stamping.

Using a slightly bigger die from the Infinity Circles Die Set, I cut out of Passionate Pink Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue, I layer and adhere the two circle die cuts together.

I cut a panel of Passionate Pink Cardstock down to 3 15/16" x 5 3/16" using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then place the Mandala Stencil over the panel and tape down using Purple Tape. I blend over the entire panel using Passionate Pink Ink to give a tone on tone look.

Using Terrific Tape, I adhere the panel onto a black card base. I then adhere my matted panel over the pink panel. Finally, I add Foam Tape onto the back of my greeting and mount onto the center of the card front and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and picked up tips along the way. By cutting the panel it gives a simple card a unique look. Stencils are a great way to create your own background paper. Using coordinating inks and cardstock really gives your card a complete look.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
