For today's card, I will be clear embossing on metallic cardstock. This techniques gives a subtle textured design that creates a unique background. I will be using Tim Holtz Metallic Jewel cardstock which has a kraft core with a brushed finish. This technique also works great with mirrored cardstock. I will be using a bold lined background stamp, fine lined detail stamps will also work. Using monochromatic colors keeps this card simple with the elegance of black detail. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the smaller rectangle die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of Metallic Jewel Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I add Adhesive Dot Runner to the back of the panel (to prevent it from shifting while stamping) and place it into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then stamp the panel with the Leafy Bold Prints Background Stamp using Versamark Embossing Ink. I add Clear Embossing Powder then heat set with my Heat Tool.

Using the bigger rectangle from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set I cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then use Double Sided Adhesive and adhere my embossed panel onto it, then mount onto a Tranquil Teal Cardstock card base.

I now take the smallest rectangle from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of Tranquil Teal Cardstock. I also take the next bigger rectangle die from the same set and cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Placing the teal piece into my MISTI, I stamp a greeting from the Heartfelt Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink

Using Liquid Glue, I adhere the teal and black pieces together then mount them onto the lower portion of my card front.

Taking my Vanessa Large Butterfly Die, I cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I add Black Foam Squares to the back of the body of the butterfly die cut and mount at an angle onto the front of the card just above the sentiment and this completes my card.

I love the monochromatic colors with the black, I feel it gives a sharp clean look with a touch of elegance! Using clear embossing powder on metallic or mirrored cardstock is a great way to create a background with lots of texture. I think bright colored metallic cardstock with a party/birthday background stamp would make a beautiful card!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
