You Brighten My Day

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

***If you've never owned a glass media mat and don't want to invest in the full size, right now Scrapbook.com has the Tim Holtz Travel Size Glass Media Mat on sale for $19.99! That's a great deal and comes with a zippered case to take your mat with you on the go. I own the full size and let me tell you, it is definitely one of my top 3 products I own!

Today's card is a clean and simple card. I will be doing some ink blending with Distress Oxide Inks, as well as some heat embossing. I will also show you how I turned my oval die into a die that fits around my circular window. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of today's work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take a die from my Infinity Circle Dies and center it just above center on the panel and cut out using my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

Next, I take the biggest die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies set and again run it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine to create a nice stitched edge to my panel. This cuts the panel down in size which will create a nice white border when later layered onto my card base.

Taking my Blender Brushes, I start blending Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink around the circle window, fading out towards the circle, leaving a highlighted area. Next, I blend Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink around the outside of the panel, fading into the previous color. To soften my blend, I go back with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink and blend around where the two colors meet.

I then take my Ranger Craft Tool and completely dry my inked panel. Next, I place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Taking the Diamond Tiles Background Stamp, I ink with Versamark Embossing Ink and stamp onto the panel. I add Detail White Embossing Powder then heat set using my Heat Tool.

Taking my Botanical Oval Frame Die, I cut out of white cardstock two times then stack and glue together using Liquid Glue. *To prevent liquid glue from oozing out on delicate dies, after adding the glue, I softly pat the die onto a piece of scrap paper to remove excess glue then adhere together. After gluing the two dies together, I trim off the straight piece coming off of the leaf, and also trim off the other end where the die cut starts to straighten, this will allow me to create a circular die cut for my window.

Next, I adhere my inked panel onto a white card base using Double Sided Tape. Placing the card into my MISTI Stamp Positioner to stamp a sentiment. To figure out my placement, I lay the frame die cut around the circle window, and place my sentiment from the Special Thoughts Stamp Set. I remove the frame die cut and stamp my sentiment with Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

I now add Liquid Glue to the back of my frame die cut and glue down around the right side of my circle window. I add Heart Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. Adding extra touches to a simple card really gives a finished look. I like using my stitched dies to give a finished looking edge. I like using my stitched die when I'm not adding a matted layer. Instead of leaving the circle window plain, and not having a circle shaped frame die, I thought I could trim off the ends of an oval die, and it worked!

I hope you all have a nice weekend, and as always, stay safe and healthy!

  2. Hi Jeannie,
Your card is beautiful! I never would have thought your cards’ circular frame cut was two pieces from an oval frame cut. You are so clever. I’ll remember this for my own future card making tricks. I always look forward to your FB posts.
    Stay safe!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
