Gradient Ink Blend W/Embossing

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Today I have a gradient ink blended panel paired with gold embossing for an elegant look. Creating a gradient ink blend with dark ink on the outer edges, fading the color out towards the center can create a highlighted look that puts the emphasis on the greeting or sentiment. I will be using regular Distress Inks for my ink blending along with a new line art stamp set from Altenew. I originally purchased this set to watercolor the beautiful floral images but was running a little behind today and thought this would be the perfect set to emboss instead. This is a very versatile stamp set with lots of florals and leaves that could be masked to create bouquets of flowers, stamped tone on tone, great for water coloring, or used to create embossed borders as I did on today's card. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of today's work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 3 3/4" x 5" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Using my Blender Brushes, I start my blending using Barn Door Distress Ink and blend around all of the sides and corners then fading out towards the center of the panel. Next, I use Aged Mahogany Distress Ink and blend just the edges and corners, fading into the previous color to create a gradient blend. For added depth, I blend Black Soot Distress Ink onto the very edges and corners. I then go back with Barn Door Distress Ink and go over the colors to soften the gradient. ***When I first start my ink blending, it looks very blotchy. A good ink blend requires layers of ink. I always start with a light hand and build up the layers of ink as I go around the panel. A huge tip when blending colors together is to "fade out" each color so that when the next color is added you can blend into the "fade out" from the previous color. This helps to blend the colors together. If you have dark, heavy edges it's hard to create a seamless blend.

There is a lot of ink on my panel, so to help speed up the drying process, I use my Ranger Craft Tool to dry the ink. I keep the heat moving over the panel to prevent warping, flipping it over drying both sides until the ink is dry. Next, I add a little Dot Runner Adhesive onto the back of the panel to help hold it into place as I want to stamp all around each side. I then set the panel onto the center of my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I choose four floral images from the Flower Garden Stamp Set and stamp them onto my blended panel using Versamark Embossing Ink. I then add Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *I choose to ink blend then do my heat embossing. I like the bright, crisp look of fresh embossing instead of ink blending over the embossed images.

Next, I choose some leaves and a small cluster stamp to fill in the open areas on the sides and again stamp using Versamark Embossing Ink, add Detail Gold Embossing Powder then heat set using my Heat Tool.

Using Double Sided Tape, I adhere my embossed panel onto a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" Black Cardstock panel, I then adhere onto a Red Hot Cardstock card base.

For my greeting, I use the Congrats Layered Die and cut out of Black Cardstock three times running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then stack and glue them together using Liquid Glue then adhere the greeting onto my card front.

I use my Jewel Picker to adhere Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's simple card. I wanted to create a card with colors I don't often use and these colors worked really well together. I love the look of red and gold together, adding the Aged Mahogany really made the gold pop and created so much depth. This card would make a beautiful wedding, anniversary, retirement or even graduation card.

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
