***ADDED.... Scrapbookcom now has the brand new Distress Ink color Speckled Egg in stock!! I hope to have mine by next week!!

I have a new stamp for today's card project, it is a large floral stamp from Stampendous and let's just say, I think I have found a new favorite!! This stamp is so easy to color with beautiful flowing petals, it also stamps so clean and crisp! I will be using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush for my coloring. I will also be using a diagonal background die from Pinkfresh Studio for a white on white look for added texture and interest. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I place Bristol Smooth Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I stamp the images from the Rose Friend Stamp Set using Versamark Embossing Ink then add Detail Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I will be using my 36 Count Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for my coloring. To start, I put down a small amount of color on the base of each petal using 028 - Pale Pink. I then use my Water Brush filled with clean water to soften and blend the color out towards the end of the petals, this will be my base color. I repeat this process until all petals are colored.

Next, I add 026 - Light Pink to the base of each petal, I also add a little where the petals crease and overlap then blend out a bit with my Water Brush. This creates some depth and dimension.

To add some shadow, I use 022 - Carmine Red in very small amounts to the areas where petals overlap each other. This stamp has detailed lines to show where some of the shadow areas and creases are which is helpful. I then again use my Water Brush to blend. *I don't want this dark color to blend throughout the entire petal so I dab my brush off onto a paper towel often to remove the color as I blend. For the very center of the flower, I add 090 - Gray and blend.

For the leaves, I follow the same process. First I add 091 - Light Gray and blend out with my Water Brush. I then add 092 - Blue Gray and blend. I like to use gray tones when painting my leaves, especially when using soft colors for the flower. I like the look of gray over the traditional green.
After all of my coloring is finished, I fussy cut out all of the images using my Razor Edge Sheers.

Using Liquid Glue, I attach the leaves to the back of my flower. I then take my Leafy Branch Die and cut out of Vellum two times running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I cut the vellum die cuts in half and glue them to the back of the flower as well.

I now cut a 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take my Fancy Diagonal Stripes Die and run them through my Big Shot. I remove all of the pieces then apply thin lines of Liquid Glue to the back of the die cut and adhere to a white card base.

I add Foam Tape to the back of the floral image and mount onto the front of my card.

For a quick sentiment, I place a strip of white cardstock into my MISTI and stamp a sentiment from the Heartfelt Sentiments Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Morning Mist Ink. **The picture shows black ink, but I changed my mind and went with the gray ink for a softer look.
I trim the strip down and add Foam Tape to the back of the sentiment and mount onto the front of the card. I then take my Jewel Picker and add Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card! I absolutely love this floral image!! It's always hard to know exactly what to expect when ordering stamps, especially if you've never seen it used. I didn't realize this flower would be this big but I am happy that it is. I love large flowers that take up most of the card front making it easy to create a subtle background leaving the focus on the image. I have a few other new floral stamp sets that I am anxious to try out in the coming weeks.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
