New Day Butterflies

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Today, I have for you a bright, cheery card to brighten someone's day. I will be doing ink blending using regular Distress Inks. I will use two brightly colored inks that when blended, creates a third color. Rather than use three different colors of ink, I like to use colors that blend together and create extra colors. It's much easier to create a seamless blend using two colors to create that third color, than to blend three different colors. For today's card, I wanted yellow, orange and pink. Rather than use an orange ink, I use only yellow and pink and let the two blend together to create my orange. I will then add white embossed images to add contrast against the bright colors of ink. To finish, I will create a cutout for my sentiment. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Using my Blender Brushes, I start by blending Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink onto the right middle side of the panel, fading out. I will be taking my second color to blend into my yellow, so I blend it out a ways. Next, I take Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and blend around the rest of the panel, blending back into my previous color, this creates my orange color. I then go back with yellow and blend into the pink again to soften the blend and intensify the colors. *There is some white splotch on the lower portion of the panel, guessing it's a defect in the paper. I will cover this up with an embossed image so it won't be noticeable in the finished card.

I completely dry my inked panel using my Ranger Craft Tool before embossing. I now place the inked panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then take different sized butterflies from the New Day Butterflies Stamp Set and arrange them in different directions on the panel then pick them up with the door of my MISTI. I stamp the images using Versamark Embossing Ink then add Detail White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. I then place the panel back into my MISTI, clean the stamps and again arrange them filling in the empty areas to complete my stamping.

When all of my stamping is finished, I trim my panel down to be 3 3/4" x 5" using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I also cut down a Black Cardstock panel to be 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". I now take a circle die from the Infinity Circles Die Set, place onto the center right side of the panel, hanging off the edge. I then run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

Without adhering, I place my embossed panel over the black panel and take the next size smaller die from the Infinity Circles Die Set and tape down using Purple Tape. I then run them through my Big Shot. I now have a matted cutout for my panel. Using Double Sided Tape, I adhere the black panel onto a Passionate Pink Cardstock top folding card base.

Next, I place my card base into my MISTI and stamp a sentiment from the Special Thoughts Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

To create a finished look to my cutout on the embossed panel, I blend Picked Raspberry Distress Ink onto white cardstock. (I ran out of my pink cardstock!) I then take two dies from the Infinity Circles Die Set, the same size as the cutout, and the next size bigger. I center the dies together and hold together using Purple Tape. I then run them through my Big Shot, I now have a frame for my embossed panel.

I place the circle frame over the cutout and snipped off a portion of the frame to make it easier to fit the cutout. Using Liquid Glue, I adhere around the cutout on my embossed panel and cut off the overhang using my Tim Holtzs Guillotine Paper Trimmer.

I cut a 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" panel out of Double Sided Adhesive Foam, (using the same size die from cutting the embossed panel) and run them through my Big Shot. I then adhere to the back of my embossed panel. I remove the release paper, center over the black panel then press into place and this completes my card.

Using white embossing powder over blended ink gives a beautiful contrast. I love how these colors blended together and the butterflies look like they are popping off of the card! Using foam between layers gives great dimension to cards.

I hope everyone has a good weekend and are staying healthy. I will be back on Monday with another fun card project!

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy...
