***ADDED.... Scrapbookcom now has the brand new Distress Ink color Speckled Egg in stock!! I hope to have mine by next week!!

For today's card, I will be using a layered stamp set. I will be using inks to build the layers of the flower and leaves. This is not a technique I use often, but thought it might be fun and something a little different than what I normally do. I will be using inks from Gina K. Designs, as well as her cardstock. Layering stamps can be a little challenging for me at times, but today's set is actually very easy! I will be using the Florets set from Altenew. The unique thing about Altenew layering stamp sets is that they include colored guides showing which stamps layer together and the order to stamp them in as well as layout ideas. They have a huge selection of floral stamps, both layering sets and lined art sets. Let's get started on today's card!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I place a panel of Neenah White Cardstock into the lower right corner of my MISTI Stamp Positioner and layout the outline stamps of the two flowers and two leaves from the Florets Stamp Set. I then pick them up with the door of my MISTI and ink the stamps using Slate Ink and stamp onto the panel.

Next, I lay each coordinating solid stamp over the lined images I just stamped. I look through the clear stamps to make sure everything is lined up which is easy to do when you first stamp the lined image. Once I have everything lined up, I stamp the flowers using Sweet Corn Ink and use Soft Stone Ink for the leaves. I end up inking up the leaf stamps again and stamp them a second time to get a darker ink tone.

Now I take the detailed stamps and line them up over each image then stamp the flowers using Prickly Pear Ink and Moonlit Fog Ink for the leaves.

For the centers of the flowers there are two tiny stamps for each flower. I line up then ink the first center stamp and stamp with Honey Mustard Ink. I then line up the second and final center cluster and stamp using Dark Chocolate Ink.

Once my stamping is done (I ended up stamping two more sets of leaves), I fussy cut all of my images using my Razor Edge Sheers.

Taking my Fancy Diagonal Stripes Die and Kraft Cardstock, I run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine and remove all of the pieces. I add Liquid Glue to the back of my die cut panel and adhere to a Sandy Beach Cardstock card base.

I now take my Banner 2 Large Die Set and cut out of Slate Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I trim off the very top of the banner, removing the stitching detail. I then add Double Sided Tape to the back of the banner and adhere onto the top center of my card front.

For a sentiment, I take one of the skinny strips of kraft cardstock that I popped out of the background panel and add a little glue to the back just to make it tacky then place into my MISTI. I then take a sentiment from the Statement Flowers Stamp Set, line it up on the strip and stamp it using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink.

I add Foam Tape to the back of the biggest flower and mount to the top center portion of the banner, slightly offsetting. I add Foam Tape to the back of the smaller flower, this time double stacking the foam so that this flower sits a little higher. I do not add any foam to the petal that overlaps the bigger flower. I then add Foam Tape to the leaf on the bottom left of the smaller flower and adhere into place. For all the other leaves, I add Liquid Glue and adhere them down. I then add Liquid Glue to the back of my sentiment strip and adhere over the biggest flower. I trim the overhang to follow the curve of the leaf. I use my Jewel Picker to add Water Droplets using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

Here are some pictures showing the insert that comes with each Altenew stamp set giving you instructions for layering order as well as colors and layout ideas.

Today's card was really something out of my comfort zone, not the type of card I usually make. I purchased this stamp set with the idea of coloring the lined images as I've seen some beautiful cards made with this set. I also purchased the masking stencil that coordinates with this set. I hope to play around with it and come up with a card for the blog in the future. I'm glad that I gave the layering technique a try, it was fun to try something different and to see the images come to life with each layer. I would like to try this technique again, this time using soft muted tones.

If this is the first time visiting my blog, welcome and I hope you return. If you are a returning visitor, thank you so much for your support!

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
