Color Block Diagonal Stripes Plus Bonus Cards

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Today I will be using a die from Pinkfresh Studio that takes up an entire card front. This die cuts even width stripes at a diagonal. I will use all of the stripes to create a card, I will then show you how I create three cards with one cut. This is a very versatile die, you can use all of the stripes or just a few, you can ink blend them, die cut out of colored cardstock or even patterned paper. The stripes could even be used as sentiment strips, the possibilities are endless! For my ink blending, I will be using regular Distress Ink. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holts Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I place the Color Block Diagonal Stripes Die over my panel and run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I poke all of the pieces out using my Craft Pick keeping them in the order of the die. I then pull every other strip out a bit leaving the four smallest strips on both ends grouped together. I will be ink blending every other strip leaving white in between each color. The separation of strips helps me to see which strips I need to blend. I will be blending the six strips pulled out on the left side. *I will be using ALL of these strips, including the white strips for this card. **This die measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" making it a perfect fit for an A2 card.

Using my Blender Brushes, I start by blending Picked Raspberry Distress Ink onto the center of the strip then fading out on either end. I then put the strip back and take the next strip and blend Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. I repeat this process by blending Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, followed by Twisted Citron Distress Ink, Peacock Feathers Distress Ink, ending with Wilted Violet Distress Ink.

Next, I take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock panel to adhere my strips onto. Using Liquid Glue, I add the tiny corner strip first followed by the next three white strips gluing them up against the previous strip and even on both ends to the edge of the panel. I then lay my purple strip in place but I do NOT glue it down, I am only using the colored strips as spacers so I can evenly glue in the white strips. I repeat this process until all of the white strips are glued down. I then remove all of the colored strips and lay them to the side keeping them in order. *I like using Liquid Glue to adhere the strips as it allows me to slide the strips around a bit getting them all aligned just right.

I now add a Foam Strip to the back of my purple strip and also add a little Liquid Glue onto the foam, again so I can slide the strip into place. I add Foam Strips and Liquid Glue to the rest of the strips and adhere them into place. Once all of the strips are adhered into place, I mount the panel onto a white card base using Double Sided Tape.

For my greeting, I take my Mega Hello Die, I cut out of white cardstock three times and the shadow die once out of Vellum, running them through my Big Shot. Next, I stack and glue the die cuts together using Liquid Glue, I then glue them onto the Vellum shadow. I end up cutting two more hello die cuts out of white cardstock and glue them together. I then glue them to the "back" of the vellum, lining up the letters. This will give my die cut added dimension behind the vellum instead of adding foam tape.

I now place a thin strip of white cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and stamp a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. *Anytime I trim down a panel, I keep the trimmings as these are perfect for small sentiment strips.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhere my greeting onto the front of my card. I then add a Foam Strip to the back of my sentiment and mount is just below the greeting. This finishes my card.

I have an extra panel of blended strips so I thought I would show you the three cards I made with them.

Taking a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white panel I add Liquid Glue to the longest corner strip and adhere first to the left bottom corner making sure the right side is flush to the edge of the panel. I then add strips on either side until my rainbow order strips are adhered. I then adhere my panel onto a white card base using Double Sided Tape.

Next, I take my Happy Birthday Die and cut out of white cardstock three times and one out of Silver Glitter Cardstock running them through my Big Shot. I then stack and glue them all together with the glitter die on top. Using Liquid Glue I adhere over the top of my blended strips. I use my Jewel Picker to add some rainbow jewels from my stash using Liquid Glue and this completes the first card.

For the last two cards, I glue strips onto the top left corner for my first card and add strips to the bottom right corner on my second card. I then trim 1/4" off the two white sides of each card making them 4" x 5 1/4". I then place the panels into my MISTI and stamp onto each panel a greeting and sentiment from the Scripted Bold Sentiments 2 Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. To finish, I mount one panel onto a Key Lime Cardstock card base and the other onto a Passionate Pink Cardstock card base using Double Sided Tape and this finishes my cards.

I hope you enjoyed today's cards. My post was a bit lengthy today because I decided to throw in three bonus cards showing you how to get three cards out of one die cut. Everything was used and nothing went to waste. This is a great die to mass produce cards with as well!

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
