Healing Hugs - New Alcohol Ink Colors

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Today's card project uses some of the brand new alcohol ink colors! I will create an alcohol ink panel then use a die to cut out my focal image. This is a simple card made with different textures and dimension. I will be using more of the new alcohol ink colors in the coming days, along with a couple of the new Alloys, so if you're interested in seeing more of the new colors and alloys be sure to check back! Let's get started on today's project!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take a 5" x 7" piece of Yupo Paper and add some Blending Solution. Next, I add several drops of Laguna Alcohol Ink, followed by Colbalt Alcohol Ink and Monsoon Alcohol Ink. I then take my Air Blower and start moving the ink around the panel, blending the colors together. I then add a little more Blending Solution around the edges of the color and use my Air Blower to soften and fade out to the corners of the panel.

I set the panel aside to dry and start working on my card. I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Next, I place my panel into my Sunburst Embossing Folder and run it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then trim the panel down 1/4" off each side so it measures 3 3/4" x 5". Next, I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out of Turquoise Sea Cardstock and mount my embossed panel onto it using Double Sided Tape.

Now that my inked panel is dry, I take the solid die from my Vanessa Butterfly Die Set and place it onto the inked panel, I take the outline die from the same set and place on a piece of Vellum and run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

Next, I mount my layered panel onto a white card base using Double Sided Tape. I then take the solid portion of the butterfly and adhere to the card front at a slight angle also using Double Sided Tape. Because the outline of the butterfly is cut out of vellum I need to hide my adhesive as I don't want it showing through the vellum. I take some gems from my stash, using Liquid Glue I adhere three to the body of the butterfly, now I have a place to add my adhesive without it showing through. I take my Liquid Glue and add three small dots to the underside of the vellum just under the gems and gently press into place over the solid butterfly.

For my sentiment, I place a scrap of white cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I then choose a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set and stamp using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I trim the sentiment into a thin strip using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer, I also trim the ends down. Using Foam Tape, I adhere the sentiment just under the butterfly, slightly to the left.

To tie in with the gems on the butterfly, I use my Jewel Picker to scatter a few onto the card front and adhere using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and the simplicity of it. I'm really liking the new colors of alcohol ink and will be sharing more creations with you in the coming days. This butterfly die is brand new for me and I just love it!! I love this big size for using as a focal point. This same die comes in a smaller size as well. What I really like about this die is that you get two pieces. You can use a solid color cardstock or do some ink blending for the solid die then cut the outline out of black or white cardstock. Using alcohol ink for the outline die would also look beautiful over black cardstock, or even adhered on it's own! The possibilities are endless!!!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
