Vintage Layered Snowflakes W/Perfect Pearls

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today I have a card made with the Layered Snowflake dies from Pinkfresh Studio. These snowflake dies are delicate and beautiful! They look great cut out of cardstock, alcohol inked panels or vellum and look great  layered. Today I wanted to create a vintage feel for my card by using a wood grain embossing folder and adding some ink blending with Distress Inks. To add a vintage look to the snowflakes, I cut them out of black cardstock and painted them with Perfect Pearls. I love making Christmas cards using non traditional colors to change things up a bit. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start I use the second biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of Paper Bag Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then place the panel into my 3D Lumber Embossing Folder and run it through my Big Shot. *Be sure to check the sandwich order for your die cut machine when using 3D embossing folders.

Using my Blender Brushes I randomly blend Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the embossed panel. Next, I blend Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the knotted wood areas of the design. To add depth around the edges of the panel I blend Black Soot Distress Ink. I blend into the panel a bit at the top and bottom also. To finish my blending, I go back through each color to soften the blend.

Next, I take a piece of Black Cardstock and several dies from the Layered Snowflakes Die Set and run them through my Big Shot. I remove the small pieces of cardstock with my Craft Pick. *I use a Metal Shim under the bottom cutting plate when using intricate dies.

Using the white area of my Glass mat I add Perfect Bronze Powder and Perfect Copper Powder and add a few drops of water to them. Taking a small paintbrush I mix the water into the powders then paint the mixtures onto the snowflake die cuts.

Next, I spatter a small amount of the Perfect Bronze Powder mixture over the front of my embossed panel. Taking the biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set I cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Double Sided Tape I adhere my embossed panel onto the black panel.

After allowing the die cuts to dry for a few minutes, I add Liquid Glue to the back of them and adhere onto the front of my panel. Next, I add Double Sided Adhesive Foam to the back of the panel and mount it onto a Kraft Cardstock card base.

For my sentiments, I place a piece of Kraft Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and stamp three different sentiments from the Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. Using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer, I cut the sentiments into thin strips then cut the ends down.

I add Foam Tape to the back of the sentiments and mount them onto my card front. To finish, I use my Jewel Picker and add Dazzling Diamond Rhinestones with Liquid Glue to the centers of the snowflakes and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I love the look of the bronze and copper colors against the brown toned distress inks, it gives off a bit of a vintage feel. If you would like to see even more ideas using these powders, I have a couple other blog posts showing different ways these powders can be used. Just type "Perfect Pearls" into the search bar located at the top of my blog page.

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
