Hello, welcome to my blog!!
I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!
I hope everyone is having a great week! We received 5" of snow yesterday, in mid October!!! We broke a record for earliest significant snow fall (that I am not proud of, LOL). We are predicted to get 6" - 9" of fresh snow tomorrow! Ugh, our dock isn't even out yet!!
I hope everyone had a chance to check out Gina's new holiday release from Monday night. Gina amazes me with the products she comes out with and this new release does NOT disappoint! She released an incredible kit filled with so many beautiful images! She even added tag and snowflake dies to this kit!! Not only can you create beautiful cards this holiday season, you can even create coordinating tags for gifts! Also released is a brand new Master Layouts 3 die set! This die set has a HUGE variety of dies that are meant to coordinate with her very popular Wreath Builder stamp sets but can also be used on any card. As I type this blog the kit and ML die sets are still in stock! Gina's kits are known to sell out pretty quickly and once they are out they are not usually restocked, so just a heads up!
Today I have a bright cheery card featuring the Flower Child stamp set from Gina K. Designs. This is a detailed stamp that is lots of fun to color with bright colors, but today I will show you how it can be used as an outline stamp over an Ombre background. I will step it up by adding some coloring to my image to create a little shading using one of the colors from my ink blend. I will be using inks, cardstock and stamps all from Gina K. Let's get started!!
I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.
To start, I take the second biggest die from my Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Using my Blender Brushes I blend Innocent Pink Ink towards the lower right corner of my panel and fade out to white at the very corner.
Next, I blend Dusty Rose Ink diagonally across the center of my panel fading into the previous color. For my final color I blend Passionate Pink Ink across the upper left corner of the panel, fading into the previous color. I then go back through each of the colors to intensify a bit.
After the ink has completely dried I place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Using the image from the Flower Child stamp Set I stamp my panel with Amalgam Obsidian Ink then add Black Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
Using the white area of my Glass Mat, I press Passionate Pink Ink onto it. I then take a Water Brush filled with clean water and run it through the ink to create my watercolor. Making sure my brush isn't too wet, I start adding the ink to areas of my image, trying to keep the ink a little darker at one end and fading out to the other end of the areas I color. As I color my image I leave areas uncolored in between the layers of the image allowing my blended background to show. I then set the panel aside to dry for a few minutes while I work on my greeting.
To create a greeting for my card I cut a 3/4" x 4 1/4" strip out of Vellum using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then place the strip into my MISTI and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Taking a greeting from the Natural Silhouettes Stamp Set I stamp the Vellum with Amalgam Obsidian Ink, add Black Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
I add some Adhesive Dot Runner to the back of my embossed panel on the bottom sides. I then place the vellum greeting over the lower front of the panel and line it up towards the right side and wrap the ends of the vellum around the panel adhering to the adhesive.
I now take the biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Terrific Tape I adhere my embossed panel onto the black panel. *I make sure to add tape over the vellum ends to help keep them secure.
Next, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Bubble Gum Pink Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I add Foam Tape to the back of my panel and mount onto the card base.
I use my Jewel Picker to add some Dazzling Diamonds Rhinestones with Liquid Glue to the centers of the three largest flowers and this completes my card.
I hope you enjoyed today's card. If you tend to shy away from lined images because of the coloring, try just stamping it over a colorful background and eliminate the coloring. Images with busy patterns look beautiful stamped in black, especially over bright vivid colors. Resist embossing is another great technique. If you want to add water coloring to your image, try embossing the image first. The embossing will contain the color and help keep it in the lines.
