Best Wishes - Alcohol Ink

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today I decided to play around with my alcohol inks, one of my favorite techniques. I will be using some of the new colors of alcohol ink along with an alloy. To showcase my inked panel, I will be using a border die from Paper Rose Studios. I love the look of color against stark white backgrounds. To keep my card clean and let the alcohol inked panel be the main focus, I will use a die from Pinkfresh Studio to create my greeting for a white on white look. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take a piece of Yupo Paper and add some Blending Solution to it. I then add a few drops of Cobalt Alcohol Ink, followed by Boysenberry Alcohol Ink then Vineyard Alcohol Ink. I then add a few drops of Gilded Alloy Alcohol Ink and add a drop of Blending Solution over the drops of alloy. Using my Air Blower, I move the color around the panel then set it aside to dry.

Next, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Taking my Gum Leaf Border Die, I tape it down to my panel using Purple Tape and run it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I cut a total of four borders, and mark a spot on the die with a marker so I can line it up on the cardstock panel before each cut. This helps to make sure I am making the same cut with the design so they line up when I glue them together. *I can get two cuts out of one panel, I then trim each of the sides to be the same size. **I place a Metal Shim under my bottom cutting plate when die cutting intricate dies.

Using Liquid Glue, I stack and glue the die cuts together then trim the ends and sides of the border die cut so they are all even.

I now take my alcohol inked panel and cut it to be 1 7/8" wide. I then use Liquid Glue to adhere the border die to the inked panel and trim the ends off.

Next, I take two dies from the Phrase Builder - Sending Die Set and cut out of Neenah White Cardstock three times each, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I stack and glue the die cuts together. *I put the dots for the "i" aside that I will adhere later.

Using my Scor Buddy, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of white cardstock into it and score at 4 1/4" creating my card base.

Next, I place the card base into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and place the inked border and greeting dies over the card base to figure out my stamp placement. I then choose a greeting from the Simple Sentiments 2 Stamp Set and stamp it onto my card base using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink

Using Liquid Glue I adhere my greeting die cuts just above my stamped greeting. To evenly stack and glue the "dots" to my greeting, I place the negative piece back over the greeting to use as a guide. I add a small drop of Liquid Glue into the opening then use my Jewel Picker to pick up one of the "dots" and place it into the opening of the negative piece. I repeat this until all three "dots" are glued into place. I then carefully remove the negative piece and all of my pieces are glued into place.

Finally, I add Liquid Glue to the back of my inked border and mount it onto my card front. Using my Jewel Picker, I add Water Droplets with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I really like the way this card turned out. Again, I just love the clean white look with the bright colors being the focus. Alcohol Inked backgrounds give such a unique look to any card. You can make them bold and vibrant by adding more ink, or you can keep the look soft and subtle by using only a few drops of ink. Either way the inks flow so beautifully together giving soft blended results. Adding an alloy gives a beautiful leafing or foiled look and gives an elegant look.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and takes time to create a card on Saturday for World Card Making Day!!

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
