Delightful Blooms - Watercolor

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today I am creating a card using the Delightful Blooms stamp set from Gina K. Desings... this set is now BACK IN STOCK!! This is a gorgeous stamp set with two huge floral stamps along with several heartfelt sentiments. This set is designed by Arjita Singh for Gina K, and if you've never seen Arjita's work you must check it out, her coloring is amazing!!! I just love coloring big images, and these images take up an entire card front! I will be water coloring my image using a water brush and inks from Gina K then finishing off with a stamped greeting. That's the best part of huge images, once the coloring is finished the card comes together quickly. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of watercolor cardstock with my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then place it into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I choose an image from the Delightful Blooms Stamp Set and stamp my panel using Versamark Ink. I then add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *Because I am using textured cardstock, I stamp my image three times to get a good stamped image.

Using the white area of my Glass Mat, I press my ink cubes onto it. I will use this as my palette. I will be using two Water Brushes, one for wetting my image and blending, the other will be used to add color. I also like to keep a paper towel near by to remove water and color from my brushes as needed. Before I begin, I like to add a little water to my ink to create a smooth color blend.

Using my Water Brush, I wet the first petal then pick up some Plum Punch Ink and add it to the base of the petal. I then pull and blend the color out towards the end of the petal, about 3/4 of the way, leaving the tips white. I repeat this process for each petal creating a light base. I then go back and add another layer of the same color to deepen the shade this time blending the color about half way towards the end of the petal, being careful not to completely cover up the first layer of ink. To finish off my first flower, I go back and add one more layer of ink, this time keeping the ink close to the base of each petal.

For the two smaller flowers I wet the first petal then add Prickly Pear Ink to the base and blend out towards the end of the petal, about 3/4 of the way out. I repeat this process for all of the petals on both flowers. I then go back and add a second layer using the same process, this time blending the color out about half way towards the end of the petals. To finish, I go back and add a third layer keeping the color close to the base.

For the bigger leaves, I wet the first leaf then add Jelly Bean Green Ink to the base then blend out towards the end of the leaf about 3/4 of the way. To darken the color a bit, I go back and add another layer of the same color of ink to all of the leaves.

To add some depth and color variation, I add Fresh Asparagus Ink to the base of each leaf and blend out towards the end about half way. The more layers that are added, the darker the coloring will be.

For the smaller leaves, I wet the leaves then add Applemint Ink to the base and blend out about 3/4 of the way towards the end of each leaf. To darken and also add some variation, I add Grass Green Ink to the base of each of the leaves and blend out about half way.

Once my coloring is complete I let the panel dry for a few minutes. I then take a small wet paintbrush and pick up some of the Plum Punch Ink from my Glass Mat and spatter over my panel. Before moving on, I let the spatters dry for a few minutes.

Using the biggest stitched die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set I cut out my panel, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Taking a small paintbrush I again spatter my panel, this time using some gold paint from my stash. I let the panel dry before moving on.

Next, I stamp a greeting from the Delightful Blooms Stamp Set using Amalgam Obsidian Ink and my MISTI

Using the biggest layering die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set I cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then use Terrific Tape and adhere my panel onto the black panel.

I use Foam Tape to adhere my panels onto a side folding card base created with the same watercolor cardstock. Finally, I use my Jewel Picker to add Water Droplets with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

What a fun image to color!! I really love this stamp set and still need to get my hands on Arjita's newest set! I look forward to seeing future sets come out as these are the type of florals I love to color. If you have thought about trying out water coloring but don't want to invest in watercolor paints, try using the dye ink pads you likely have in your stash. Both regular distress and oxide inks are awesome for water coloring also!

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
