Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!
*I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots - stand alone machines and bundles.

Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink followed by colored ink.

Let's get started!!

To start, I take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of Kraft cardstock. I tape it to the back of Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil using Purple Tape. Using my Blender Brushes, I start blending White Pigment ink over the entire panel. I remove the stencil and clean. Before adding colored ink, I heat set the white pigment ink with my Ranger Craft Heat tool.

I re-position the clean stencil over my panel making sure to offset a bit. I now start blending my colors in rainbow order, overlapping each color to get a good blend. The colors I use are Passionate Pink, Tangerine Twist, Wild Dandelion, Lucky Clover, Blue Raspberry and Wild Lilac. After my ink blending is finished, I remove the stencil.

Next, I cut two of the sides of my panel at an angle, and mount onto a panel of Tranquil Teal cardstock. I then trim the edges leaving about 1/8". I attached to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" kraft card base.

I take a strip of Vellum, prep it with my Anti Static powder bag then stamp it with a sentiment from Gina K. Designs Wealth Of Wishes stamp set using Gina K. Embossing ink. I then cover with Black Embossing Powder and heat set. To attach the strip of vellum onto the front of my card, I use Spray Adhesive and press it onto my card front. To finish this card, I add some Disco Ball sequins and adhere using Connect liquid glue.

For my second card, I start with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Black Onyx card panel. I repeat the process from my first card, first adding white pigment ink, re-positioning the stencil and offset.

I now start ink blending colored ink onto the panel. Using my blender brush, I start with Blue Lagoon ink adding to random areas. Next, I add Wild Lilac ink to the rest of the areas, blending into the previous color. Once I'm satisfied with the coverage, I remove the stencil. Blending ink on dark cardstock is not as easy to see... it's kind of a surprise once the stencil is removed! I trim my blended panel down to 4" x 5 1/4" and mount onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Edible Eggplant card base.

Next, I cut an oval using Double Stitched Oval dies, out of Edible Eggplant cardstock by running it through my Big Shot. Using the bigger oval die from the same set, I cut out of Black Onyx cardstock.
I now stamp and image from Bitty Blossoms stamp set along with a greeting from the same set. I stamp them with Embossing ink, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set. I adhere the two ovals together using Terrific Tape and mount onto the front of the card with Foam Tape. I finish off by adding Gold Sequins.

This completes today's card project. I wanted to show that this technique can be used with stamped images as well as stencils. I think this would look beautiful on grey cardstock also.

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
