Today's card project is all about Gina K.! All products used on today's card are from Gina K. Designs. I will be using two of the Wreath Builder stamp sets to demonstrate a shadow stamping technique. You will need some type of stamp positioner to use with the Wreath Builder.
Gina K. Designs is one of my favorite stamp companies. Gina's products are top quality, all of her ink colors match her cardstock, customer service is top notch and Gina herself, she is an absolute sweet, wonderful person!
Let's get started on today's card project!!
The two stamp sets that I will be using for the shadow technique are Wreath Builder and Autumn Wreath Builder. I am also using the Wreath Builder Templates, I will be using the 4" square template. Using my MISTI stamp positioner, I fit the wreath builder template into the lower right corner of my MISTI and hold it down using the bar magnet. I cut a 4" x 4" piece of Gina K. Designs Kraft cardstock and place it into the template.
I will start my stamping with the cardstock placed in the square orientation. When doing any wreath builder stamping, you should always start in the square orientation to be sure all images fit on the cardstock. I choose a flower to do my first stamping. I set the stamp onto the square panel in the position I want my image to be stamped. I then close the door of my MISTI to pick up the stamp, then ink the stamp with Gina K. Designs White Pigment ink. I will be using mini ink cubes for all of my inks today. I now close the door of my MISTI, stamping my first image. After the first image is stamped, I leave the stamp attached to the MISTI door and re-ink it and rotate to square panel one turn so that the panel is now in the diamond orientation. I stamp my image, then re-ink and rotate my square panel to the next position, now in the square orientation. I repeat this process until my square panel is stamped all the way around.
Next, because the ink is pigment, I heat set the white ink using my Ranger Craft Heat Tool before moving on to the next step. After the white ink is dry, I place my panel back into the MISTI remembering to start in the square orientation. I lay the same stamp down over the white image and offset just a little then pick it up with the MISTI door. *If you have unstained stamps, you can look through the stamp to offset.
I ink up my stamp using Blue Lagoon ink and stamp my image. I then turn the panel to the next position, which is diamond orientation, ink my stamp and again stamp my image. I repeat the process until all white images are covered in blue ink.
Starting in the square orientation, I now line up a leaves stamp. I ink my stamp with white ink, and stamp my image. I rotate the panel and stamp all the way around. Again, I heat set the white ink before moving on to the next color.
Again, I line up the leaves stamp and offset. I ink my stamp with Grass Green, starting in the square orientation, I stamp my image, rotate the square panel and repeat the process all around the panel.
Next, I choose another flower stamp, starting in the square orientation I lay my stamp where I want my image and ink with white ink. I turn the panel to the diamond orientation, re-ink and continue to stamp all around the panel. Again, I heat set the white ink.
Starting again in the square position, I line up the same stamp and offset. I ink the stamp with Tomato Soup ink, stamp and rotate the cardstock until I have stamped all around the panel.
Next, I choose a leaf branch stamp and starting in the square orientation I lay my stamp in the top left corner and ink up with white ink. I will only stamp this stamp in all four corners. This means instead of stamping my panel at every rotation, I will only stamp it every two turns so that only the corners are stamped. These turns will all be in the square orientation. I then heat set the white ink. Next, I line up the same stamp and offset. I then ink my stamp with Fresh Asparagus ink and stamp over the white images.
I now choose a small image, line it up in the top left corner. Again, starting in the square orientation, I will only stamp in the four corners of the panel, stamping every two turns so I'm only stamping the square orientations. I then heat set the white ink. Next, I line up the same stamp and offset. I then ink the stamp with Wild Lilac, and stamp over the four white images.
Keeping the same stamp, starting in the square orientation, I move it to another position on the inner part of the wreath. I ink it with white ink and stamp. I re-ink the stamp, rotate the panel to the diamond orientation and repeat all around the panel. I then heat set the white ink before moving to the next color. Using the same stamp, I line it up over the white image and offset. I then ink the stamp with Fresh Asparagus, stamp and rotate the panel until all white images are stamped.
My last stamp is a tiny image. Starting in the square orientation, I place the stamp in the top left corner of my panel. I ink the stamp with white ink and stamp it every two turns so that I am only stamping the four corners. I then heat set the white ink. Finally, using the same stamp I line up over the white image and offset. I ink the stamp using Sweet Mango then stamp and rotate until all four white images are covered.
Now that my wreath is complete, I work on my sentiment. I cut a 1 1/4" x 4" strip using Blue Lagoon cardstock. ***I just realized Gina no longer carries Blue Lagoon cardstock. I am linking Tranquil Teal cardstock which is a very close match, just a bit darker. Tranquil Teal can easily be substituted with this card, as it would match beautifully with the Blue Lagoon flowers.***
Using Scripty Love stamp set, I stamp a sentiment with Amalgam Jet Black ink onto my Blue Lagoon strip using my MISTI stamp positioner. I cut a 1 5/16" x 4" strip out of Black Onyx cardstock. I then mount my sentiment onto the black strip using Terrific Tape.
I cut a panel of Black Onyx to be 4 1/8" x 5 1/4" and adhere it to a Blue Lagoon top folding card base. I now take my wreath panel and cut it in half at 2". I adhere the two pieces at the top and bottom of the black panel.
Taking my sentiment strip, I add Foam Tape to the back and attach it to the front of my card. Using Connect liquid glue, I add some pearls from Lucy's Cards Soft Ivory Pearls and my card is finished.
I hope you found this card interesting and the directions not too confusing. I didn't realize how lengthy the description would be, LOL! Most of the process is repetitive. The most important thing to remember is to always start your wreath builder panel in the square orientation to ensure your wreath doesn't run off the edges. There are so many things you can do with the wreath builder, today's project is just one idea. Gina also has other wreath builder sets, including a Mandala set that makes beautiful designs! Small stamps from any set can be used with the wreath builder, and Gina sells the templates separately so they can be used with sets you already have. I really enjoyed this technique and how this card turned out!
