Emboss Resist

Hello, welcome to my blog!

***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!
Today's project focuses on an emboss resist technique. I will be using a stamp set from Pinkfresh Studio which is actually a collaboration set with Hero Arts, it's called You Make A Difference. This is a beautiful set with so many encouraging words and right now it is being offered for only $15.99 at Scrapbook.com! That is a $9.00 savings!! There are a few other collaboration sets at this price as well. Let's get started on today's card!

To start, I take a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of Neenah white cardstock. I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. Using my MISTI stamp positioner, I stamp my panel with the floral frame from the Pinkfresh Studio You Make A Difference stamp set with Versamark ink. I add White Detail embossing powder and heat set with my Wagner heat tool.

I will be using regular Distress inks to do my ink blending. Using Blender Brushes, I start in the center of my frame using Squeezed Lemonade and fade the ink out a bit. Next, I bring in Twisted Citron around the edges of my previous color and fade the ink out again. My third and final color is Salty Ocean that I lightly blend around the previous color and to the edges of my panel. I go back over each color to intensify a bit and blend into the surrounding color. Taking a soft, dry cloth I gently buff my embossed image to remove any ink sitting on top.

Next, I lay my panel into my MISTI and lay out my design to line up my sentiment. Once I have it the way I want, I close the door of my MISTI to pick up the stamp. I ink up my stamp which is from the same You Make A Difference stamp set with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. ***I use a trick to line up my sentiment. I take a scrap piece of acetate and lay it over my stamped panel and stamp the greeting to be sure it is straight... if it needs to be adjusted, I can then do so. Once it looks they way I want it to, I remove the acetate, ink up my stamp again and stamp onto my panel.

I want to cut out a rectangle from the center of my panel and at the same time, create a thin frame. To do this, I take two dies from my Hero Arts Infinity Rectangles set, and lay them cut side down. I line the two dies together making sure all four edges are even and tape the back side using Purple Tape to hold them together. I take and center the dies over my sentiment and run the panel through my Big Shot die cut machine. While the frames are still taped together, I also cut out a frame from black cardstock.

Next, I mount my embossed frame onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white card base. Using Gina K. Connect liquid glue, I adhere the black frame into the opening of the card panel. To mount my sentiment panel, I cut a 2" x 3 1/4" piece of Double Sided Foam and mount it onto the back of my sentiment panel and adhere it centering over the black frame. I add some black jewels from Lucy's Cards Ebony Mix and my card is finished.

I hope you found today's card fun and learned something along the way. I'm sure by now you've realized that I love ink blending! Whether it's bold, bright colors or soft and muted I love creating backgrounds and trying new colors. Busy background stamps are great for ink blending. It's fun to emboss with white on white cardstock and watch the image come to life when ink is added!
The stamp set used in today's project is such a beautiful set with sentiments so encouraging, I look forward to making many more cards to send encouragement to those having a rough time in life.

Have a great weekend and I will be back on Monday for another fun card project!

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
