Lovely Lotus Masculine

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend! We got to spend the day with our two grandkids, (5 & 7, with two more on the way!!) and boy did they ever wear us out... but was so much fun!!!

Today, I am making yet another card from the August kit from Gina K. Designs! I can't help myself, I am finding so many ideas with these sets. I will be using the Lovely Lotus stamp set, using a color scheme that could also work for a masculine card. If you're anything like me finding new ideas for masculine cards is always welcome! All of the stamps, ink and cardstock are from Gina K. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 3 3/4" x 5" panel out of Kraft Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take the panel and crumple it up into a small ball. I carefully open the panel back up and crumple it up again. I repeat this process a few times until I'm satisfied with the look.

I flatten my panel out and place it into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I will be stamping my panel with the Elegant Script Background Stamp. Because I want somewhat of a softer stamped image, I use my Blender Brush to apply Edible Eggplant Ink to the background stamp instead of using the ink pad to ink the stamp. I then stamp my panel.

I now tear off the right side of my panel leaving a rough edge, then use my Blender Brush to lightly blend Edible Eggplant ink around the edges. To further distress this piece, I take my fingernail and scrape it across the edges, roughing them up a bit more.

I take the biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of Edible Eggplant Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Using Terrific Tape, I adhere my torn panel onto this panel.

For my sentiment, I cut a 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" strip out of Vellum using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer and place it into my MISTI. I prep it using my Anti Static Powder Bag then stamp a sentiment from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set using Versamark Ink. I add Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. I place the sentiment strip over the lower front of my panel and bend the edges around the back, adhering the ends with Adhesive Dot Runner

Placing a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Kraft Cardstock into my Scor Buddy, I score at 5 1/2" creating a top folding card base. I add Foam Tape to the back of the panel making sure to add it over the ends of the vellum and adhere onto my card base.

Next, I blend White Pigment Ink onto a piece of Edible Eggplant Cardstock, fading out a bit. I then blend Edible Eggplant ink around the white ink, blending back into it to create a soft highlight. I then use my Craft Tool to dry the ink.

Placing the panel into my MISTI, I prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I now take an image from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set and position it over the highlighted area and stamp it using Versamark Ink. I add Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *Because I will be embossing this image again with the detail, I heat the powder in very short bursts of heat, meaning I hold the heat to the image just until the powder starts to melt then pull the heat away. I repeat this process until the entire image is embossed.

I again prep the panel with my Anti Static Powder Bag then line up the detail stamp from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set. I stamp using Versamark Ink, add Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *I again melt the powder in short bursts of heat, heating just long enough to melt the powder. I do this process so the previous embossed areas do not get over embossed.

Taking the coordinating die from the Lovely Lotus Die Set, I line it up over my image and hold into place using Purple Tape. I then run them through my Big Shot to cut out the image. Next, I add Foam Tape to the back of my image and mount it just above my sentiment, off centering a little. I use my Jewel Picker to add some Water Droplets with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I love the rich, elegant look the gold embossing gives against the eggplant cardstock. This card would also look great using a navy cardstock and silver embossing. This stamp set is so versatile and by using the right colors, it could easily be used to create masculine cards as well.

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
