Hello, welcome to my blog!!
I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!
Today I will be water coloring an image then using a diagonal stripes die to cut the panel apart. I will then adhere the strips onto a panel leaving a space in between each strip to create some interest. This stamp is one of my favorites as well as the die so I thought I would use the two together and this is what I came up with! Let's get started!!
To start, I place a piece of water color cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Next, I stamp the image from Statement Flowers using Versamark Ink. I add Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
Using the Glass Mat for my palette, I press my ink pads onto the white area. I then take my Water Brush filled with clean water and pick up Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink and add it to the base of my first petal. I then clean off my brush by wiping it on a paper towel then blend the ink out towards the end of the petals about 3/4 of the way. I repeat this for each petal on both flowers.
I now pick up Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink with my Water Brush and add to the base of the petal, again blending out towards the end of the petal about half way being careful not to cover up all of my first color. I repeat this for all of the petals on both flowers.
For the leaves I pick up Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Ink with my Water Brush and add to the base of my first leaf. I then blend the color out towards the end of the leaf, leaving a little bit of white around the edges of the leaf. I repeat this process for all of the leaves.
Next, I add Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink to the base of each leaf and blend out towards the end being careful not to completely cover up the previous color.
For the center of the flower, I add Weathered Wood Distress Oxide Ink.
To add a little texture and color, I use a small paintbrush and spatter Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Ink over the image and background.
Once the spatters have dried, I place the Color Block Diagonal Stripes Die over my panel and hold down using Purple Tape. I then run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.
Before removing the pieces from the die, I add a couple of strips of Purple Tape to the back of the panel to keep the pieces in place. I then use my Craft Pick to poke out the pieces and remove from the die. Keeping the strips adhered to the tape helps keep them in order until I need each one.
Using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Black Cardstock. Using Liquid Glue I adhere the corner strip from my water colored panel onto the black panel lining up the corner and the left edge. I adhere the second strip in order, lining up the embossed images I leave a thin space between it and the previous strip. I continue this process until I fill the lower half of the panel. I now start to fill the upper half of the panel with the same process. *It doesn't matter if there is overhang as I will be trimming the panel down. I just want to be sure my image matches up.
Keeping the image centered, I use my Guillotine Paper Trimmer to cut the panel down to 3 5/8" x 4 7/8". I also cut a panel out of Black Cardstock measuring 3 3/4" x 5". I then use Double Sided Tape and adhere my water colored panel to the black panel.
To create a sentiment I place 1 1/4" x 3 5/8" piece of Vellum into my MISTI and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then stamp a sentiment from the Heartfelt Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I add Black Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
To adhere the vellum to my card front, I put some Liquid Glue onto my Glass Mat then pick up with a sponge and dab it evenly onto the entire back of the vellum. I then quickly adhere it over my panel before the glue has a chance to dry. I then press and rub around the vellum strip making sure there is good contact with the card front. I place a large acrylic block over the strip for a couple of minutes until the glue dries. *The vellum will want to curl when liquid glue is added to it so you will want to work quickly.
Next, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Peony Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score a 4 1/4" creating a top folding card base. I add Double Sided Adhesive Foam to the back of my panel and mount onto the card base. I use my Jewel Picker to add some pearls from my stash with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.
I hope you enjoyed today's card. I like trying different things with my product and was happy how this one turned out! Embossing a black sentiment onto vellum almost makes it look like it is floating over the front of the card. Using vellum is a great way to add a sentiment or greeting without taking too much away from the design underneath.
