Today, I have a Christmas card for you! From now until mid December, I will be throwing in a Christmas card here and there. I know many like to get a head start on their Christmas card making so I thought I would throw in some ideas. On today's card, I will be using the brand new Layered Snowflake Dies from Pinkfresh Studio! Being a snowflake fanatic I was thrilled to see these new dies become available! There are a total of ten different snowflake dies in this set with coordinating shadow dies for each. I will only be using the snowflake dies on this card, layering them with silver glitter cardstock. To create a background for my card I will be using a 3D snowflake embossing folder. I will be inking the background of this folder allowing the snowflakes to show in white. For the background and snowflakes, I will be using regular Distress Ink. ***FYI, when I was linking my products, I noticed that the scalloped square die is on clearance...it is marked down 50%!!  Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. To create a frame for my card I center the Reverse Stitched Scalloped Square Window Die over my panel. I secure it with Purple Tape then run it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

To create my background, I take the Jeweled Snowflakes 3D Embossing Folder and gently rub my Stormy Sky Distress Ink Pad across the side with the flat surface (where the design is inverted). I then lightly tap the ink pad over the surface to get rid of any streaks. Next, I lay a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of Neenah White Cardstock into the embossing folder, close it and run it through my Big Shot. I then trim 1" off the panel making it 4 1/4" x 4 1/2". ***Be sure to check the sandwich order for your die cut machine when using 3D folders.

To create my card base, I place a 4 3/4" x 9 1/2" piece of white cardstock into my Scor Buddy, scoring at 4 3/4". I then add Double Sided Tape to the back of my inked panel and adhere it onto the card base.

Next, I take the scalloped frame and add thin Foam Strips to the back then mount onto the card front.

To create some color to the snowflakes I want to die cut, I take my Storm Sky Distress Ink Pad and drag it across a the leftover piece of cardstock from my frame. I make sure to leave some white space to give some color variation. Next, I take several dies from the Layered Snowflakes Die Set and cut out of the panel, running them through my Big Shot. I then use my Craft Pick to poke out all of the small pieces. *I use a Metal Shim under the bottom cutting plate when using intricate dies.

I now take a few dies from the Layered Snowflakes Die Set and cut out of Silver Glitter Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot.

Using Liquid Glue I layer my snowflakes together, two layers each. I then use my Jewel Picker to add Dazzling Diamond Rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes using Liquid Glue.

For my greeting, I place a 3/4" x 4 1/4" strip of Vellum into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it using my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then stamp a greeting from the Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I then add Black Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

To adhere the vellum strip onto my card front, I add Liquid Glue to the back of the ends and a few very small amounts to the back of the letters of the greeting. I tuck one of the ends under the frame, then tuck the other end of the greeting under the opposite side of the frame and gently press into place. *I slid my bone folder under the scallops to press the ends of the vellum down. For each of my snowflakes, I add a small Foam Square to the backs then press them onto my card front and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I love making Christmas cards, it gives me a chance to use products I don't otherwise use throughout the year! I really love how the background turned out, I thought it gave a nice vintage look to this card. Snowflakes are one of my favorite dies to use because of the beautiful intricate looks they give. Layering snowflake dies are especially fun to use, mixing and matching colors, glitter cardstock and even vellum. I will be using these new layered snowflake dies on more cards to come!

I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
