Be Like The Lotus

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Happy Monday, I hope everyone had a great weekend! Today, I have a simple card made with the Lovely Lotus stamp set with the coordinating die that are both included in last month's kit from Gina K. Designs. In the past few weeks I've made several cards using this set and each time I think I will put it away, another idea pops in my head! I've had so many people comment on this set so I thought I would show some of the ideas I've come up with. I will be ink blending a background on colored cardstock, starting with the matching ink then use two darker shades for the outer edges and corners (The lighting in my final picture doesn't do this card justice. The true colors of this card are reflected in the process pictures). I will then emboss my images and use the coordinating die to create a panel for my sentiment. I love the look of embossing against these blended colors, it gives such a rich look! Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of today's work on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Blue Raspberry Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Next, I place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Taking the biggest image from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set, I stamp the corner of the panel using Versamark Ink, add Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. Keeping the stamp attached to my MISTI door, I rotate the panel and repeat so that I have two embossed images.

I then take my Blender Brushes and start by blending Blue Raspberry Ink around the edges of the panel, fading out towards to center.

Next, I use Blue Denim Ink and blend around the edges and corners, fading into the previous color being careful not to cover it all up.

For my final color, I blend In The Navy Ink around the very edges and corners of my panel.

After letting the ink dry on my panel, I place it back into my MISTI and again, prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Next, I line up the detail stamp from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set and stamp it using Versamark Ink. I then add Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. I rotate my panel and repeat for the second image.

For the other two corners of the panel I take the smaller lotus image from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set and stamp it using Versamark Ink, add Silver Embossing Powder then heat set with my Heat Tool.

To give my panel more of a finished look, I take my Versamark Ink Pad and drag it down all four edges of my panel. I then add Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

Taking the coordinating die from the Lovely Lotus Die Set, I cut out of Vellum running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then place the die cut into my MISTI and prep with my Anti Static Powder Tool. I then stamp a sentiment from the Lovely Lotus Stamp Set onto the center of the die cut using Versamark Ink, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool

To add a little shading to the vellum die cut, I turn it over and use my Blender Brush to blend Blue Raspberry Ink onto the petals leaving the center uncolored. I then blend Blue Denim Ink around the edges of the petals.

Next, I create a backer for my sentiment, I use the same die and cut out of Blue Raspberry Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. To attach the vellum die cut to the cardstock die cut, I put a small amount of Liquid Glue onto my Glass Mat then pick up with a sponge. I then dab the glue onto the back of my vellum, starting in the center where there is no ink then dab onto the petals. I then line up the two die cuts and lay an acrylic block on top to add a little pressure while it dries for a few minutes. ***I learned this tip somewhere online and cannot remember who it was that had this idea, sorry!

Using my Scor Buddy, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into it and score at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I then adhere my panel onto the card base with Terrific Tape. I add Foam Tape to the back of my image and mount onto the center of the card front. Using my Jewel Picker I add Water Droplets with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

Whether coloring these images or using them plain over a blended background, they are so beautiful and elegant looking. The sentiments in this set are just as beautiful from the font to the encouraging words!

I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
