Flower Child w/Zig Markers

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

I finally finished the card I started last week using the Flower Child stamp set from Gina K. Designs' August card kit. As promised, I have a bright colored image for you using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. With all of the curves in this image I thought it would be fun to fade out the colors a bit, creating some highlights. This was a very fun image to color, it reminded me of those adult coloring books! I think it would be fun to stamp a bunch of these and try different color combinations. I will again be using the Fizzy stencil by masking off my image to create a subtle background for my panel. I thought the colored image looked like it was just hanging there and that something was missing. Using the stencil was the added touch I was looking for and thought it finished off the panel perfectly! Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the biggest stitched die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and cut out of Bristol Smooth Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I stamp the image from the Flower Child Stamp Set onto my panel using Versamark Ink. I add Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I will be using my 36 Count Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color my image and will be listing the color numbers. I will also be using a Water Brush filled with clean water to blend my colors. I start with 025-Pink and add some color to the end of one of the sections of the design. I then take my Water Brush and dab at the color, pulling the color and fading towards the center. I then add color to the opposite end of the same area, again using my Water Brush to pull and fade out the color towards the center. I repeat the process for the same areas of the image.

Next, I take 070-Orange and repeat the process, adding ink to the ends then take my Water Brush to pull and fade out the color towards the center.

I now take 085-Bright Yellow and again repeat the process.

I move on to the flowers and add 031-Cobalt Blue to the base of the petals. I then take my Water Brush to pull the color out and fade towards the end of the petal.

I use these four colors, 052-Bright Yellow, 070-Orange, 025-Pink and 031-Cobalt Blue to color the rest of the flowers using the same process. To finish, I add very small amounts of 041-Light Green to the small areas of the scalloped swirls using the same process and this completes my coloring.

I now create a mask for my image by placing a piece of Masking Magic into my MISTI and stamp the same image. I then use my Razor Shears and fussy cut the image, remove the release paper and adhere over my colored image. *To remove a bit of the tackiness from the masking paper, I first stick it to my pants before adhering to my image.

With the mask attached, I place the Fizzy Stencil over my panel adhering with Purple Tape. I then take a Blender Brush and lightly blend Soft Stone Ink over the stencil, fading out towards the edges. When my blending is complete I remove the stencil the carefully remove the mask. *I kept this mask for future projects by sticking it to the back of my stamp set.

Next, I cut a 1 1/4" x 4 1/4" strip out of Vellum using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then place the strip into my MISTI and prep with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I stamp a greeting from the same Flower Child Stamp Set using Amalgam Obsidian Ink then add Black Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I add Adhesive Dot Runner to the back lower edges of my panel, center the greeting across to front of my panel then wrap the sides of the Vellum around the back, adhering to the adhesive.

Taking the layering die for this panel from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set, I cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Terrific Tape, I adhere my colored panel to the black panel. *I make sure to add the adhesive over the vellum on the back to secure it onto the black panel.

I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" panel of Key Lime Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I add Foam Tape to the back of my panels then mount it onto my card base and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card using Zig markers to create a faded watercolored look. I was pleased with how vibrant, yet soft these colors turned out. Let me just say how much I LOVE this new stencil!!! I find myself reaching for it often when I need a little something extra to add to my card or to anchor an image. I love the loose design this stencil gives. I hope Gina comes out with more of these types of stencils in the future!

  7. I LOVE this card. I’m a newbie and I just got a set of Arteza water color brush markers today that I ordered from Amazon, so I’ll be trying this technique, probably tomorrow. I’ve never used water colors or markers so I have a lot to learn but I think I can learn this. Thanks so much for sharing.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
