Today I have a card for you using the Ornate Floral die from Pinkfresh Studio. This is a beautiful die that covers the entire front of an A2 card. I have a few other posts using this die... if you are interested in checking these out just type Ornate into the search bar located at the top of my blog. Today I will be creating the look of poinsettias using this die for the Christmas season. For this look I will be doing some ink blending using regular Distress Inks. I will create a gradient blend for both the floral die and background, starting out with a heavier ink blend and fading out to the white cardstock. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I use my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer to cut a 4 1/2" x 6" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock. Taking my Blender Brushes I start my blending using Festive Berries Distress Ink. I first lay down a light layer of ink that fades out towards the bottom of the panel. I then go back with a heavier layer of the same color of ink keeping it darker at the top and blending out lighter as I work my way down the panel fading the color out so that the bottom is left white.

Taking my Ornate Floral Die I cut out of my blended panel, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Using my Craft Pick I remove all of the pieces from the frame saving all of the flower pieces and keeping them in order for easy placement later.

Next, I place all of the blended flower pieces onto a piece of chipboard and lightly spray with a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls Powder using a spray bottle then set them aside to dry. *I keep a small spray bottle filled with clean water that I have added some perfect pearls powder to, so anytime I want to add some sparkle to my projects I just give it a quick shake to redistribute the powder and I'm ready to go!

To create a background for my frame I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of Neenah White Cardstock using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Next I take my Blender Brush and blend Twisted Citron Distress Ink, again keeping the ink darker at the top and fading out to white towards the bottom of the panel.

Using Liquid Glue I add small dots of glue to the back of my floral frame die cut and along all four sides then adhere it onto the green blended panel making sure both white areas are at the bottom then press into place. I set a book over the panel for a minute to hold everything down until the glue sets. I then use Double Sided Tape and mount my panel onto a white card base.

Now it's time to add the flower pieces back into the frame. I add Liquid Glue to the back of each petal at the base only then place into the area it was cut from and press into place. I repeat this for all of the petals. To add a little dimension to my card I pull up on the ends of each petal so they stand up just a bit.

To add some detail to the flowers I use my Gel Pen and add dots and lines around each petal. I then use my Jewel Picker to add some pearls from my stash to the centers of each flower with Liquid Glue. For added texture I also add some white splatters over the entire panel. To do this I place a small amount of white acrylic paint onto an acrylic block with a small amount of water to thin it out just a bit. I then take a small paintbrush and flick the paint onto the panel.

For a sentiment I use a small die from the Infinity Rectangle Dies Set and cut out of Vellum, running them through my Big Shot. I then place the die cut into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. Taking a sentiment from the Holiday Tag Sentiments Stamp Set I stamp it onto the vellum using Versamark Ink. I then add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I add Liquid Glue to the back of the left edge of my sentiment die cut and also a very small amount behind the words then adhere to my card front and this completes my card.

This die is one of my favorites and great for die cut inlaying! Today I went with a holiday theme, however, this die is great for any occasion. I think it would make a beautiful wedding card by making the flowers and background be the colors of the wedding! I hope everyone has a safe relaxing weekend and that you come back on Monday for another fun card project!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy
