Merry Christmas Holiday Tapestry

 Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and weekend! Today, I have a simple card for you using the beautiful Holiday Tapestry stamp set from Gina K. Designs, which as of right now is back in stock!! This set is perfect for the holidays but would be great as a year round set by just changing up the greeting. This set has a huge solid flourish stamp that is great for silhouette stamping and gives an elegant look when embossed. There is also a flourish strip that would look beautiful stamped on the flap of an envelope or used as a border as well as some small solid images that are perfect for using with the Wreath Builder! I will step up today's card with some ink blending around my embossed images giving this simple card a dramatic look. All of the inks, stamps and cardstock I use today are from Gina K. Designs. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the second biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of Tranquil Teal Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. To hold my panel in place, I add a small amount of Adhesive Dot Runner to the back of the panel and place it into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I make note of the position of my panel as I will be rotating the panel to stamp the other end also. My position is at 5" and 2 1/4" on the MISTI ruled edges.

Next, I prep the panel with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then stamp the large stamp from the Holiday Tapestry Stamp Set onto the top portion of my panel with Versamark Ink. I add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I then rotate the panel and place it back into my MISTI at the 5" and 2 1/4" marks and again prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I ink up the stamp with Versamark Ink and stamp it onto the panel, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. By lining up the panel at the same measurements, I now have my stamped images evenly spaced. *To remove any remaining anti static powder, I use a micro fiber cloth to gently buff it away.

Taking my Blender Brushes, I blend Tranquil Teal Ink around all four sides of the panel. After each color blend, I take a soft micro fiber cloth to buff off any ink sitting on top of the embossed areas. Next, I blend Blue Denim Ink around all four sides of the panel being careful not to completely cover up the previous color. I go further into the image in some areas to create some depth. To finish, I blend Black Onyx Ink around only the very edges of all sides of the panel and this completes my blending.

Using the biggest layering die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set, I again cut out of Tranquil Teal Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Next, I run the edge of my Versamark Ink pad down the end of my panel. I then add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. I repeat this process for the other three edges of my panel.

Using Terrific Tape, I adhere my blended panel onto the gold edge embossed panel. I then place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Tranquil Teal Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I use Terrific Tape and mount my panels onto the card base.

Next, I place a piece of Tranquil Teal Cardstock into my MISTI and choose a greeting from the Holiday Tapestry Stamp Set. I prep the cardstock with my Anti Static Powder Bag then stamp my greeting with Versamark Ink. I add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool

Using the biggest stitched circle die from the Master Layouts 3 Die set I cut out my greeting. I also take the layering die from the same set and cut out of Black Onyx Cardstock, running them both through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue, I adhere my greeting onto the black circle die cut. *Using liquid glue allows a little extra time to slide the greeting into place to create a nice even border all the way around. Using the ink that is left on the Blender Brush, I blend Blue Denim Ink around the very edges of my greeting.

I add Foam Tape to the back and mount it onto the center of my card front and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. This is one of my very favorite ink combinations to blend. I love using these colors with gold embossing powder, it makes the whole card glow!! Dramatic ink blending is one of my favorite techniques and I couldn't wait to use it with this set!!

  3. First time visitor! Wow! The way you did that card is amazing, absolutely gorgeous. I was SO excited to see that you had the step by step pictures! You have given me hope to salvage 1/2 a dozen cards I made with that stamp, but just wasn't happy with them. Thank you so much and I will keep an eye out for more designs from you.

  4. Love everything about that card but the shadowing is what makes it. I have never done it and had a problem seeing much difference in the 3 cards. Also I have trouble with neatness when embossing. How do you brush off the extra without getting the design. Also how do you get it even?

I have so many questions and appreciate any help. Thanks,

    1. Hello Dolores!! Thank you for your kind words. The first color I blended was the same color as the cardstock so it's a bit hard to see. The second color was a little darker than the cardstock. The black in on the very edges is what really pulls the color together and adds contrast. I like to build up the color this way so it's a gradual blend.
As for my embossing, I make sure to rub the panel down with my anti static powder bag real good before stamping the image with a juicy Versamark Ink pad. I then add the embossing powder and tap the edge of the panel onto the side of my embossing powder container to remove the extra powder, I usually add embossing powder a second time and again tap off to get good coverage. If there are any stray pieces left behind I take a very small paintbrush to remove them. I hope this helps. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for visiting my blog!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy
